Tour Overview
Editor's note: The International Study Programs office extends its gratitude to BYU professor of Spanish, Joaquina Hoskinson (now retired), author of the original text. The walks were designed for use by BYU's study abroad programs in Madrid. The text for the walks shown here is very close to the original, though there have been some modifications made to make it fit with the app and because over time a surprising amount of change can happen, even in very old cities like Madrid. This use has now been updated and prepared for web application use in 2018 by Susan L. Martin, editor. However, things do continue to change, and if you notice anything that needs to be updated in these walks, please send the information to BYU's International Study Programs at isp@byu.edu. Thank you for your help in assuring the walks remain updated.
In reading the text, one can still feel the love that Dr. Hoskinson has for the history and culture of this great city. Enjoy!
Original Introduction
Wander down one of the busiest streets in Madrid and take a look back into the history that helped form the city into what it is today. At the end of this walking tour you will be in the Plaza de España. You could then start the Plaza de España tour if you please.
