Tour Overview
Join us on March 6 at 5:30 for an Allen After Hours program, “Enrique Chagoya: Encounter at the Border of Language.” This one hour lecture will be followed by a reception with light refreshments.
Enrique Chagoya, professor of art at Stanford University, will talk about his different bodies of work (paintings, drawings, prints, and multiples) that critically comment on the changing nature of culture. Chagoya frequently uses satirical imagery, appropriations of Western art, and Mesoamerican icons to convey multiple narratives in his art. He addresses historical issues of immigration and colonialist ideology in what he humorously calls "Reverse Anthropology" and "Reverse Modernism."
