Tour Overview
welcome to your Marietta “Windshield Tour!” This is going to be a different kind of orientation than you may have expected. We are not just looking to orient you to your new job, and your new school today; we want to introduce you to our Marietta School District, and leave you with the understanding that you haven’t just taken a job with Marietta – you’ve joined our Marietta family and community.
There are only a few school systems that are as intertwined with the community as we are in Marietta. Marietta was established as the Cobb County seat in 1834, and chartered as a town in 1852. Marietta’s name is thought to have come from the wife of Cobb County’s namesake, Thomas Welch Cobb.
As we go through this tour, you’ll get a chance to become familiar with Marietta City Schools and each other. We want you to have fun and off we go! Our first stop is A.L. Burruss Elementary School.
