Tour Overview
Washington's Southern Tour brought our new President back to Charleston SC in 1780 on his Southern tour. South Carolina had been the state where the most Revolutionary War battles had been fought and Washington wanted to thank his new countrymen.
The new President's visit would highlight the talents of an Irish immigrant in Charleston whose design for the White House which would serve as the residence for our new Democratic leader, a position new in the world.
Hear how the Irish contributed to the growth of our new country as nation builders. Hear how the British were defeated when they returned for the War of 1812 to take the colonies back, but how nature itself fought back.
