Tour Overview
The history of Auckland’s live music scene is spread throughout the central city, extending back to the variety shows of the early 1900s through to the jazz and rock of the '50-'60's coffee lounge, and on to the emergence of punk, R&B, hip hop, and dance music.
The tour starts at Aotea Square before weaving its way down the side streets along Queen Street to the busy 1960's nightlife district that once existed around modern-day Waitematā - Britomart, taking time to point out landmarks and decipher clues to where missing venues once stood.
