She has worked in and supported a number of arts, educational, and community organizations in a variety of spaces throughout New England, and her ceramics can be seen in galleries and art festivals around the country. The natural landscape, particularly of the south coast of Massachusetts, are significant inspiration for Cali’s work in clay. She is always influenced by time walking in the woods, through the marsh, and along the shore. She is drawn to the patterns, colors, forms and contrasts found there. Cali enjoys the challenge of creating simple forms in clay, particularly vessels, platters, and tiles and then exploring more expressive surfaces. She plays with slips, glazes, resists, printing, pouring, and even finger painting to achieve results. Some of her work reveals recognizable images and patterns from landscape while others are more abstracted. She hopes her work brings a sense of love and respect for place. Her pieces are intended for everyday use, and she uses food safe materials on all her work. This location will also showcase SCA sculptor, Whitmore Boogaerts both weekends. Art is powerful, healing and omnipresent. It envelopes us and feeds our souls.”Walkout basement studio._______________Vania NoverçaBOTH TOURSOIL PAINTING/SCULPTURE: Vibrant paintings of florals, birds and expressive figurative subjectsnovercaincognito@gmail.com774-627-5977Find us on Instagram! Will provide ongoing demonstrations throughout the Tour weekends!Vania Noverca Viveiros aka Vania Noverca is a local artist born and raised in the Steep Brook section of Fall River, MA. She is an Oil Painter and Sculptor who is inspired mostly by nature and the human figure, she considers herself a realist with a captivating contemporary flare. Her work is vibrant in color representing the vivid colors and form that can be found within nature. She is intrigued by the human figure in its expressive state; she enjoys capturing and conveying the emotions of her subjects in her drawings, paintings and sculptures sharing her experiences with her viewers! Her artist statement is one of which best describes her interpretive thoughts of being an Artist and should be considered if one seeks to know her! Artist Statement: “As an artist one is often asked to provide a biography and an artist statement when invited to a gallery or show, I truly understand the intent; however I must admit that I personally feel that in order to know an Artist one must learn who we are through our reflections and look beyond our shadows. Who, what, when and why, how are we inspired; each and every creation is a mere reflection of these entire things collectively. Our perception of another’s interpretation can sometimes be misconstrued, we must not limit ourselves, study, be inquisitive, engage with one another; only then will we learn who we are beyond the shadows we cast. Art is an expression of one self and must be shared with others.” Vania Noverca ViveirosVania would love to do a painting demonstration of local shore birds for each day of the tour; typically the duration of each demo is 1- 1 1/2 hours long. Vania would like to offer individuals to enter to win the paintings if that is acceptable and allowed according to any rules. if not, she will abide by all and any rules. Whether it is a stack of books, nature's glorious landscapes, or the ordinary life of cows, each painting finds the beauty and awe in the image. #44 Donna St Amant and David Formanek

#44 on the BrochureArtists showing at: 2 Fox Ln, Westport, MA 02790Donna St AmantBOTH TOURSPHOTOGRAPHY: Vibrant and detailed images created on a flat bed scannerDonna@donnastamant.comhttps://www.donnastamant.com508-207-6645Find us on Facebook and Instagram!Donna’s love of capturing images began back in the early ‘80s with black and white film and her own darkroom where she marveled at the development process. When the digital era began replacing film and supplies became more difficult to find, she stepped away as the extensive time on the computer required in that new format was too close to how she spent most of her workday as an engineer. She sought out more tangible ways to express herself and found working with metal, flame, and hammer as a metalsmith gave her the perfect balance and at times a way to relieve the stresses of day.Now in retirement, she’s rekindled her love of photography. She capture the close up detail and beauty of flowers, worn beached objects, and elements of nature that cross her path on a large flat bed scanner in a process often called “Scanography”. Once used to digitize her photographic negatives, the high-resolution scanner is now her ‘studio camera’ and the fine detail it captures never ceases to amaze her. Whether a single bloom or a ‘medley’ of treasures, the objects are placed directly on the scanner glass with the cover left open. She builds depth and layers from foreground to background on the glass surface. Using a preview feature, she can see the image as it will be recorded and can rearrange elements until it’s just what she had imagined. To Donna, this process feels somewhat like organizing a group portrait. She place the individuals near one another in a pleasing and cohesive composition, intertwines outreaching elements to project a feeling of connection, and then captures the moment.Overall, she says “It’s all about passion, the joy of creating … and the continuous quest to learn and grow.”House on the right side going down Fox Lane (dirt) off of Drift Road. Studio access requires going down/up a set of stairs._____________David FormanekBOTH TOURSSCULPTURE: Figurines, small figural reliefs, found natural objects and poems in metalformanex@cox.nethttps://ontogenyandphylogeny.wordpress.com/about/781-910-8610Will provide ongoing demonstrations throughout the Tour weekends!A former city person from Vienna, New York, and Boston, David Formanek finds stimulation and comfort on the South Coast. His MFA is in fine arts. He also studied classics, architecture, and geology. He is known as a poet, and gives historical tours in Newport. Greek sculpture and architecture have always been his inspiration. He models his reliefs and figurines in plasticine. After many more hours of refining the images he casts them in plaster or other materials. He forms flowing backgrounds by submerging molten wax in cold water, capturing the instant at which they meet and congeal, a process he returned to recently after inventing or discovering it in 1970. Other sculptures are constructed from Tiverton bedrock and bramble roots from his yard, and poems hammered into lead sheets. He works in small scale so his work can fit in people’s homes.Formanek may demonstrate some sculptural techniques.Fox Lane is a dirt road off Drift Road.

#46 Michael Walden and Carol Scavotto

#46 on the BrochureArtist showing at: Michael Walden Art 42 Drift Rd, Westport, MA 02790Michael WaldenBOTH TOURSPAINTER & PRINTMAKER: Figurative narratives with explorations into landscape, still-life and abstractionmichaelwaldenart@yahoo.comhttps://www.michaelwalden.net978-807-1123Find us on Facebook and Instagram!Michael Walden’s latest offering is a vibrant exploration of figuration. His new works illuminate the relationship between an artist and his model. Walden’s paintings and prints capture the ease of a connection that needs no words. They are demonstrations of being. Highlighting the process of observation, this exhibition brings viewers inside Walden’s studio – perhaps even inside the artist’s mind – showing us his focus on the plays of light and color, the tensions between surface and pattern. Like the Bay Area Figurative Artists of the midcentury, Walden explores his subject through the process of abstraction and obfuscation. Surprises lead the way to new discoveries. His art evokes both a physical and cerebral calm. Andrew Wyeth, who created countless works of Helga Testorf explained “I can't work completely out of my imagination— I must put my foot in a bit of truth—and then I can fly free.” Walden’s model, likewise, seems to bring him to the doorway of his own imagination.Walden received an MFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, an MFA in Art Education from Boston University, and a BFA from the University of Framingham, MA. His solo exhibition at the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art in Manhattan was followed by extensive showings throughout New England. He has been awarded multiple artist residencies at the Fine Arts Work Center and the Vermont Studio Center. Walden lives and works in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York City.Walden typically presents his studio as a working space... tour goers are encouraged to ask questions as they arise during the tour. There are restrooms locate yards away at the Head of Westport's town landing. Walden's working studio is atop a steep stair which would make it inaccessible to some._________Carol ScavottoBOTH TOURSSILK THREAD & INK PAINTING: Embroidered silk and ink paintings4ucarol@gmail.comhttps://carolscavotto.com401-835-4029Find us on Instagram! Will provide ongoing demonstrations throughout the Tour weekends!Artist Statement Carol is a multi-media concept artist whose work addresses female empowerment. Carol continues fine-tuning her Sensual Silk Thread Paintings Series that began in 2020. Her YouTube channel functions as a venue for performance art through video journaling. On them, she shares the daily progression of her thoughts and work. https://www.youtube.com/user/zellie47The character evolution in each vignette is a key component of Carol's work, creating imaginary personalities that tell a story. She creates intimate silk embroidered vignettes in a joyful, loving, and humorous manner. Carol feels the need for nonjudgmental human interaction is instinctual for survival. Sharing one essence with others unguarded creates human humanity. Japanese Shunga and Chinese Silk Embroidery influence her Silk Thread Paintings. Her Western viewpoint adds humor while honoring the two ancient art forms. This sensual-themed body of work grew as she recoiled from our acrimonious social climate. She felt the need for a figurative, collective, and supportive hug. The work is spoken from a sensual female voice, confident in her value and worth both to herself and the society at large, not one of objectification. Carol’s choice of using sewing as a medium is intentional. Working with dupioni silk supports and complements the sensual narrative. She establishes the shape of each character as a line drawing before transferring the design to silk. The color palette is created using a staining process. The embroidery layer finishes the personality of the artwork. Carol works in a conversational mode as the personality takes shape. Each mark adds depth, dimension, and emotion.
