Born in Bronxville, New York, Robert Abele is renowned for his evocative representations of structural architecture and the rugged, scenic beauty of the New England landscape. Abele’s work is characterized by a unique ability to capture the specific mood and atmosphere of a moment in time.
Abele laid the foundation for his creative journey at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1993. Before shifting his primary focus to easel painting, Abele demonstrated his versatility through a successful stint in the commercial art world. His resume includes significant contributions to animation projects for major networks like Nickelodeon and MTV. Additionally, his editorial illustrations have graced the pages of high-profile publications, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, proving his ability to communicate visual narratives to a mass audience.
Seeking to further refine his technical mastery, Abele returned to academia later in his career, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2018. This dedication to his craft has resulted in a prolific body of work; he has exhibited in numerous galleries and juried art shows, with over 2,000 of his paintings now held in private and public collections.
Beyond the canvas, Abele is deeply committed to art education. From 2011 to 2019, he served as a drawing and painting instructor at the Westport Art Group and the Westport Council on Aging. Since 2020, he has been inspiring the next generation of creatives as a High School Art Teacher at Pilgrim Academy in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Today, Abele’s artistic voice continues to capture the essence of American Impressionism, inviting viewers to find beauty in the interplay of light, architecture, and the natural world.
#2 Bruce Bailey and Eric C Lintala

Artists showing at: 800 Division Rd, Dartmouth, MA 02748
Bruce Bailey
BOTH TOURS
MIXED MEDIA: Images and objects from dreams, nightmares, imaginings and discoveries
Will provide ongoing demonstrations throughout the Tour weekend on decoupage.
Bruce Bailey is a retired software engineer residing on New England’s south coast who has returned to his original passions of painting, printmaking, and sculpture.
He has worked in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic and charcoal on paper, canvas, wood and steel.
Recently he has discovered a potent format for visual expression in old, weathered red cedar shingles common to houses on the south coast. The patterns of weathering and exposure, construction markings and natural color variation make them interesting objects in themselves. Adding to them by direct painting or drawing, or by decoupage with tissue paper printed with his own design images he has produced an expanding series of works.
Inspirational sources of his work are ancient cultures, history, science, music, and literature, as well as the work of other artists. The thematic or narrative content of his work is usually not planned but emerges as the work develops.

SCULPTURE: Steel, cast bronze and cast aluminum
Prehistoric rock art, petroglyphs and pictographs, has had a profound influence on my work. Sheltered in caves or under vast cliffs, these images of human kind, animals and nature were inscribed, pecked and painted onto stone. The early inhabitants who made them, their knowledge, lost to the ages. The sculptures I create have become a narrative involving the interaction of human, cultural and natural events from the past and present. The shapes and marks that I make, the symbols created are echoes from the prehistoric past, they tell of my observations, experiences and events that have affected me. The challenge before me is to carry on, to re-investigate, to renew this tradition of communication utilizing contemporary materials and methods and through my visual interpretations I hope there spirits can live on.

FIBER ART: Botanically printed scarves and textiles using leaves and flowers
Find us on Instagram!
Will provide ongoing demonstrations throughout the Tour weekend.
Robyn Borges of Bippity Bop Design creates unique, Botanically Printed silk scarves and fabrics. No synthetic dyes or paints are used in her process, only locally foraged leaves & blossoms. Robyn's unusual process is Eco-friendly and produces a one-of-a-kind wearable piece of art. Each scarf is made individually by wrapping the fabric and leaves around a dowel and then tying it tightly to create a bundle. She then uses steam, water and patience to coax the natural pigments and tannins from each leaf and blossom.
She has successfully combined her love of gardening with over 20 years of designing printed and woven fabrics for the commercial textile industry. Robyn earned a BFA in Textile Design from UMass Dartmouth as well as training at RISD. In later years, she earned a Certificate of Interior Design at RISD and worked for Ethan Allen as well as other local design firms.
Robyn has taught workshops in Botanical Printing as well as Natural Dyeing and the Art of Papermaking. She truly enjoys inspiring others to discover their own creative spirit. She has given presentations on the History of Natural Dyes, and Botanical Printing. Recently, she created a “Dyer’s Garden” at her home studio to use in her fiber artwork. Plants such as marigolds, wild geraniums, coreopsis and peonies are frequently used in her silk scarves and fabrics. The artist has stated “there is something truly amazing in planting a flower, helping it grow, and then incorporating it in the design of my fabrics.”
Her scarves can be purchased through the Etsy website, a few local giftshops, as well as her home studio by appointment. Please contact the artist if you have an interest in upcoming workshops.
Come see how these one-of-a-kind textile pieces are created. Robyn uses a process of combining real leaves and blossoms along with silk/wool fabric and steam to create these beauties. The artist will offer hands-on demonstrations throughout the tour in July and August.

TEXTILE: Modern colorful geometric art quilts for home or wall

Find us on Instagram!
Joan DeCollibus is a lifelong maker creating modern, color-driven art quilts. Inspired by the vibrancy of her gardens and surrounding landscapes, her work explores bold palettes, dynamic contrast, and strong geometric composition. After a career in graphic design and digital marketing, she returned to hands-on making, drawn to the tactile, immersive nature of working with fabric.
Her process begins with original pattern design and the careful selection or hand-dyeing of fabrics to achieve nuanced color and texture. Precision cutting leads to thoughtful piecing and pressing, building layered compositions that balance structure and movement. Each quilt is completed with custom backing, machine quilting that adds depth and rhythm, and binding—an intentional finishing detail she considers the frame to the piece.
Joan continues to push her practice forward, incorporating hand quilting, appliqué, embroidery, and expanded surface design techniques. Her quilts function as both fine art and functional objects, designed to live on the wall or within the home. Rooted in craftsmanship yet guided by a contemporary design sensibility, her work celebrates color, form, and the expressive potential of textiles.
