Amina's Gift provides direct funding for African children to attend school, as well as basic daily living necessities like food, clothes and shoes to allow them to perform well. We also pay for transportation to local clinics to receive government provided health care and medications.

We support ourselves by purchasing crafts by local artists and then reselling them. This provides employment for the local artists, who in return are able to support their families. The profits are used to support and encourage a good education for all the children in the community.

In addition of the sale of the crafts made by local artisans, Amina's Gift will accept cash donations and material donations such as clothing, shoes and books to support the children.

Born in Jamestown, New York, in 1919, Bud Hambleton moved to Rochester, New York, as a young boy. He served four years in the Army during World War II, when he traveled the Pacific rim while sketching his fellow servicemen and sights. Following the war, Hambleton and his father opened a steel warehouse and metal-cutting business in Rochester. In the 1950s Hambleton commenced formal studies with William Ehrich, sculptor and professor of fine arts at the University of Rochester, and perfected his skills carving in wood and stone. While operating the metal-cutting business, he began to develop his talents in arc-welded steel, which became his principle medium.​

During the 1960s, Hambleton joined the thriving art scene in Rochester, eventually deciding to pursue his career full time following the sale of the metal warehouse business in 1969. He and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Nantucket, the seaside retreat off the coast of Massachusetts, where they opened a gallery featuring his work in steel and limited bronze castings.

Over the years, Hambleton's work has also been shown in galleries in New York City, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His work is owned by major collectors across the country.

Hambleton sculpted the human condition in its many facets, including nudes, children and political satire. His love of nature resulted in stylized animal portraits ranging from the African savannah to the woods of North America.

Kelly began as a sculptor and has expanded her art making to numerous media and projects. Her portfolio of work includes painting, pastel, photography, encaustic and cast resin sculpture. As of 2010 her art making has taken on projects at the juncture of creativity and science. This body of work contains her nationally solo exhibited “Keys to the Cures” series and focuses on how art can facilitate the individual stories within science and medicine.

Kelly’s artwork can be found in museums, private and corporate collections, such as The Boston Group, Intarcia Therapeutics and Simpson Healthcare. Kelly is a Core Artist Instructor for R&F Paints, and frequently serves as artist-in-residence for Scientific Institutes, Design Labs, and facilitates cross-disciplinary programs in expression through her Imagination Collaboration® projects. Kelly studied fine art sculpture at the University of Southern Maine. Kelly’s story and artwork have been featured in many publications including New England Home, ArtScope Magazine, Newport Life Magazine, and The Pastel Journal.

Kelly is active in her home state of Rhode Island having served on the executive board and as President of the Providence Art Club. She participates in the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour as a founding member, and President Emerita. She teaches internationally, and nationally with art retreats, workshops, classes and lives in Tiverton, Rhode Island with her daughter Ava who shares her creative passion. Ava authors stories, and is an active, teen social rights advocate.

Visit us here at the workshop in this 1913 renovated school building. We are open to the public.

Our pottery is made by pressing the flowers into the clay, hand cutting, shaping and drying the pieces, then ultimately hand painting, glazing and finishing them. In that mix are two or three firings up to 1800 degrees. The accessories shown here have another step which is making a master from the original clay impression so that we can make a form with an embedded design. From that we do the whole hand made process when the fresh flowers are just asleep beneath the ground.

Now there are 4 of us here, mostly mothers, mostly part time, all of us people who have to work with their hands to be happy. Two paint exclusively and they do the wedding commemoratives and most of the gallery pieces. The rest do every conceivable thing from unloading 3 tons of clay a couple of times a year, to making pieces, loading kilns, handling orders and painting when they get the chance.

Westport Art Group was formed in 1955 by a small group of local, art-minded women. Since then, we have grown into a robust and colorful community organization approaching 250 members from all over South Coast, Massachusetts, southern Rhode Island, and beyond. At our active Main Road, Westport Point building, we offer both adult and youth art classes and show events throughout the year, many of which are open to the public. We are a 501(c)3 organization.
