Dartmouth Cultural Council

The journey of the Dartmouth Cultural Center began as a community-based effort to save and preserve the rich heritage of one of the town’s architectural gems, the Old Southworth Library, for future generations.Today, the venerable landmark is safe from neglect. It has been repurposed as an arts and cultural center serving the historic seacoast town of Dartmouth, Massachusetts and houses our young and growing organization. The founders of the Dartmouth Cultural Center had a single objective, to save the Old Southworth Library from an uncertain future. Together, they, along with our Board of Directors, members, supporters, and sponsors, continue to maintain our mission. Its an agenda that spotlights and encourages the arts, and the appreciation of the many local artists, and artisans who live and work in and around the town and beyond.By preserving, maintaining, and enriching our community’s cultural life, we provide a wide array of cultural and educational activities, present the works of local artists, and partner and collaborate with the many local individuals and groups who also remain committed to the arts in the South Coast region.404 Elm Street, South Dartmouth, MA 02748508-991-0484https://www.dartmouthculturalcenterinc.org/

Cédian Painting

From the Rocky Mountains to Rhode Island shores, artist-art historian, Jennifer Jones Rashleigh paints iconic wildlife cameos. Inspired by natural design: the curve in a feather, the vein in a leaf, the iridescence in a fin, the wild contours of a wave, she captures the organic detail and energy that define her exquisite renderings of birds, fish, botanicals and beach scenes.3848 Main Road, Tiverton, RI 02878https://www.cedianpainting.com/

Milukas Gallery

Kelly Milukas, Artist, Collaborator, Art + Medicine, Patient Advocate Creative encounters designed to engage and unlock complex ideas in science and medicine. For Kelly, the back and forth between art and science opens up new ways to approach and understand topics of critical importance. As an artist collaborator, Kelly engages communities in the process of expressing science and medicine through art. Each Imagination Collaboration® project is a unique encounter. Her process is applicable to internal and external programs in a range of settings. Kelly has worked with scientific organizations, the Wake Forest Regenerative Medicine Institute and foundation, university art/sci programs, healthcare agencies, patient/advocacy communities and most recently, two biotech startups. Kelly’s luminous “Keys to Cures” sculptures have been adopted as a powerful symbol for how the work of Intarcia teams is unlocking cures through innovation. Kelly’s art is a permanent installation at Intarcia’s Seaport District, Boston headquarters, California, and Europe. Magenta Therapeutics appointed Kelly, to collaborate with their scientists and staff to understand and experience their patient focused mission. Then, with the critical learnings, lab tours, and design milestone visits, she helped shape the Magenta corporate headquarters appearance with artwork interpretations celebrating their cure vision, their science and mission. The artwork created embodies the character of Magenta’s one-time-cure science for patients. Kelly is active in her home state of Rhode Island having served as a President of the Providence Art Club and participating in the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour as the founding President Emeritus. She lives in Tiverton, Rhode Island next to her studio and gallery. Kelly teaches both nationally and locally in pastel, encaustics and mixed media. When not working in the art/sci space, she enjoys painting whimsical fish, barns and cows.503 South Lake Rd., Tiverton, RI 02878http://kellymilukas.com

Salt Marsh Pottery

Only open on Saturdays of the Tour weekends from 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.Visit us here at the workshop in this 1913 renovated school building. We are open to the public. Our pottery is made by pressing the flowers into the clay, hand cutting, shaping and drying the pieces, then ultimately hand painting, glazing and finishing them. In that mix are two or three firings up to 1800 degrees. The accessories shown here have another step which is making a master from the original clay impression so that we can make a form with an embedded design. From that we do the whole hand made process when the fresh flowers are just asleep beneath the ground. Now there are 4 of us here, mostly mothers, mostly part time, all of us people who have to work with their hands to be happy. Two paint exclusively and they do the wedding commemoratives and most of the gallery pieces. The rest do every conceivable thing from unloading 3 tons of clay a couple of times a year, to making pieces, loading kilns, handling orders and painting when they get the chance.1167 Russells Mills Rd, South Dartmouth, MA 02748https://www.saltmarsh.com508-636-4813sales@saltmarsh.com

Tiverton Land Trust

Tiverton Land TrustPardon Gray Preserve3460 Main Rd Tiverton, RI 02878tivertonlandtrust.orgSouth Coast Artists at Pardon Gray: Join us as we celebrate artists inspired by nature at Pardon Gray.ABOUT: The Tiverton Land Trust was founded in 1996 by a small coalition of Tiverton residents — to protect the future of farming in Tiverton from the mounting pressures for development.TLT’s co-founders, Mary Wehle, Joseph Bossom, Martin VanHof and Stephen Barker, came together in their desire to protect the land, preserve Tiverton’s agricultural community and preserve the fabric of their community. At the same time, one of the few remaining large farms in Tiverton was about to be sold to a developer who planned to build 80-100 single family homes on the site. Recognizing the imminent loss of a beautiful and historic farm, the newly formed Land Trust sought to save and preserve it as open space.Allen Smith joined the group which then applied for Open Space funding through the R.I. Department of Environmental Management (DEM). The DEM awarded $400,000 for the project, and additional grants were obtained from U.S. Fish and Wildlife, The Norcross Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, and Newport Water.Faced with the need even more funding to complete the project, the the Land Trust kicked off it’s first fundraiser with a concert held at the Four Corners Arts Center featuring the musician Pete Seeger. More than 100 people attended to show their support and contribute to the land preservation effort. A wave of community fundraising had began in earnest. The effort to save the farm was a challenging one. Several times it seemed that the farm would be lost. Ultimately in March of 2000, the 237 acres of farm and woodland was purchased for $1,200,000.
