Cape Forchu Cycle Route

Put Yourself on a Spin Cycle Route 304 twists and turns along Yarmouth Harbour, offering harbour vistas and tidal activity. The Cape Forchu cycle route follows a narrow point of land, as it juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, and culminates at the most westerly point of mainland Nova Scotia: Cape Forchu Light Station. Allow time along the ride to stop for beachcombing and exploring the Yarmouth Bar fishing wharf.

Shag Harbour UFO

The Shag Harbour Incident Interpretive Centre, located in the fishing village of Shag Harbour along the South Shore, chronicles the sighting of a UFO which crashed into the waters of Shag Harbour leaving no trace other than yellow foam. Visitors to the Centre can view television documentaries, newspaper articles, other memorabilia, and an exhibit on outer space. After a tour of our centre, visitors can browse through our gift shop. The UFO Gazebo and picnic site can be found about 3 minutes up the road from the Centre, where visitors can look out on the ocean to the location the object crashed in 1967. Entrance to the center is $5

Baccaro Point

Baccaro Point is the most Southern point of mainland Nova Scotia. The lighthouse is situated on the edge of a rocky point where you can witness the power and beauty of the sea. The lighthouse was built in 1934 to replace the original lighthouse that was destroyed by fire in January 1934. The structure received repairs and a new paint job in 2016. Another point of interest at the site is a Canadian Coastal Radar structure which is all that remains of a former US Air Force - Canadian Forces radar installation which was part of the 1950's Cold-War era Pinetree Line Early Warning Radar network.

Historic Waterfront District of Shelburne

Shelburne is a very special town not to be missed! The waterfront Heritage District retains an aura of the 18th century. You will see some impressive buildings. Enjoy a visit to Shelburne's Historic Waterfront - Museums by the Sea. The Ross-Thomson House & Store Museum, which has the oldest restored store in North America; the Shelburne County Museum, which has the oldest fire pumper in North America; the Dory Shop, where the art of dory-making is demonstrated each day during the summer, and the Coyle House, where Tottie's Crafts sell their wares.Enjoy a bite to eat at The Emerald Light or The Ship's Galley on Water St.

Roods Head Park 

Roods Head Park Rood's Head Park is a coastal look off that is perched on the southern most point of the isthmus, that forms the town of Lockeport. From the top of the hill, a small path winds down to the rocks, providing not only a fantastic view of the breaking surf, but a breathtaking view of the Crescent Beach. Depending on the time of year, it is also a great place to view Gull Rock, one of our resident Lighthouses.

Gosby's Garden Centre Concrete Creations

Cosby’s Garden Centre Concrete CreationsThe front part of Cosby’s looks like your typical garden centre with lots of interesting plants for sale. But wander behind and a whole other world unfolds. Trails wind through a mix of pine forest and gardens filled with rare flowers. But the biggest surprise is the gargantuan size and sheer number of concrete creations made by owner and artist Ivan Higgins that are scattered throughout the garden.New trails and art continue to be added so the landscape is everchanging.Entrance is by donation.

Rissers Beach

Rissers Beach Provincial Park is found 24 km (15 mi) south of Bridgewater on the Atlantic Coast in Green Bay, at the mouth of the Petite Riviere. This beautiful park has a 1.5-km (1-mi) sheltered sandy beach (supervised July/August), an interpretation centre, a boardwalk along an inland marsh and two campgrounds.

Crescent Beach

Try this 4.7-km out-and-back trail near Crescent Beach.This spot is a popular trail for birding, paddle sports, and snowshoeing. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
