Baltimore Woods Nature Center

Baltimore Woods Nature Center has been a cornerstone of environmental education and stewardship since 1966. Spanning over 180 acres of diverse landscapes, including woodlands, fields and waterways, Baltimore Woods offers an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. The center is managed in partnership with the Central New York Land Trust and is dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world through a variety of engaging programs and initiatives which change monthly. Beaver Lake Nature Center

Beaver Lake Nature Center, located just outside of Syracuse in Baldwinsville, is a natural haven spanning over 600 acres of diverse habitats. This serene sanctuary features nine miles of maintained trails that meander through forests, wetlands, and along the shores of Beaver Lake, offering an immersive experience in nature. Named after President Millard Fillmore, who was born nearby, Fillmore Glen State Park is renowned for its cool, dense woods and the narrow gorge that defines its landscape. The Matilda Joslyn Gage Center is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of Matilda Joslyn Gage, a pioneering suffragist, abolitionist, and advocate for Native American rights. The museum is housed in Gage's former home and features rooms dedicated to women's rights, the Haudenosaunee, religious freedom, and the Underground Railroad.While you’re here, you can fully immerse yourself in the life of Matilda, explore at your own pace, touch the objects, and voice your thoughts on the whiteboard walls. Visit the series of rooms dedicated to each of the ideals she fought for, like religious freedom and women’s rights.

Onondaga Lake Park

The Skä•noñh – Great Law of Peace Center is a Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Cultural Center focused on telling the story of the native peoples of Central New York. The history is told through the lens of the Onondaga Nation and covers topics such as Creation, European Contact, The Great Law of Peace, and more. The Onondagas, or People of the Hills, are the keepers of the Central Fire and are the spiritual and political center of the Haudenosaunee.Skä•noñh, is an Onondaga welcoming greeting meaning “Peace and Wellness.” Feel at peace as you step through the doors and explore the museum and exhibits.
