Tour Overview
Botanical hike in the Tilden Nature Area around Jewel Lake. Follow along with the AllTrails map. Find your way to the grove of redwoods at the entrance to the Nature Area parking lot. You can begin with a series of plants along the parking area before entering the Nature Area proper. You will begin in the vicinity of Little Farm and the Education Center, an area that includes a small wetland created by the damming of Wildcat Creek. You can walk through the riparian strip on Wildcat Creek Trail before arriving at a diverse set of plants near Jewel Lake. You can return at a faster pace along the Lower Packrat trail, with an optional side trip to Upper Packrat Trail. The whole trip is a bit over 1 mile on relatively flat trails, and it takes 2 hours at a botanical pace.
