Brown Cottage and Tavern
To reach the Brown Cottage and Tavern, today the Inn at Castle Hill on The Crane Estate, walk to the end of the Wild Garden towards the Casino Complex. Take the road or use one of the mowed paths. As you approach the cottage from the road, notice the large trees that form a path to the right. These trees flanked the original entry road to John Brown’s private park that landscape architect Ernest Bowditch designed before the Cranes bought the property. The Olmsted Brothers moved the entry road away from the cottage to provide some privacy. As you walk around, please be respectful of our Inn guests. The Inn at Castle Hill is a private sanctuary for those who visit. To learn more visit, thetrustees.org
