Around the year 800, the abbey adopted the rules of St. Benedict. Seven Benedictine monks still live in Weltenburg Abbey today. Thomas Maria Freihart has been the abbot of the monastery since 1998. Among other things, the monks work as chaplains and look after guests at the St. Georg meeting place.Brewing activities started around 1050 AD and can still be enjoyed during a tour of the complex. You can enjoy this holy beer in one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Bavaria situated in the baroque monastery grounds.
