Tour Overview
Narrative in Progress:
Download this self guided tour and join us on a walk of this delightful and surprising, cultural, historic highlight. Above the town towers the world-famous Melk Benedictine Abbey, one of the biggest and most beautiful European Baroque ensembles. The vivid yellow of the Melk Abbey which, holds a grand position overlooking the Danube, immediately catches your eye when you approach the town of Melk. The Walk starts from the parking above the abbey. From there it guides you around the abbey's premises, before you walk down into the quaint centre of town, discover some hidden medieval treasures, lovely cobbled streets and some controversial WWII traces. The tour ends at the Melk river, from where you have a splendid view, a Kodak moment to capture the Abbey in the reflection of the water.
