Tour Overview
Focus: The London Wall
Historical Context
Roman Times:This was the boundary of the old Roman city of Londinium.
Medieval Times: During much of the medieval era, this area still defined the major boundaries of the city of London. Most of the important areas of London were located within the wall.
Modern Times: During World War II, this part of greater London became the target for enemy attack, especially around the docks. As a consequence, the East End of London was severely damaged. Since then, it has been rebuilt with ultramodern architecture, much of it around the area of the old walls.
