Tour Overview
Focus: Little Venice and Paddington Green
Historical Context
This area was developed largely as a result of the canal system constructed to transport materials throughout the UK in the early part of the nineteenth century. Little Venice, which for awhile was the eastern terminus for the Grand Junction Canal, also became the western terminus for the Regent’s Canal, uniting the Paddington area to the Thames. In the 1960s, the canal became more of a recreational facilitator than a commercial one.
