Welcome to Macon Mural

"Welcome to Visit Macon" Mural by Ocmulgee Artist GuildLocated on the back of the Visit Macon Downtown Visitors Center this mural is perfectly situated for visitors as they stop in for the 411 on Macon, and also encourages locals to venture out on foot and play tourist in their hometown. To see it, walk down the alley and duck behind the building. The mural by Colin Penndorf quickly tells you everything that’s iconic about Macon, from the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park to the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Riders’ Flow

"Riders’ Flow" by Chris LoganAbout Chris: Christopher Logan (Loganic) has an MFA from NYU. Logan is an artist with an international exhibition and mural production history including mural commissions in Michigan USA, Berlin, Germany and Dakar, Senegal. Loganic’s mural incorporates silhouettes of individuals he encountered at the MTA station. Bus passengers volunteered to have their shadows sketched and were later included in the finished mural.The Terminal Station murals are supported by the Downtown Challenge Grants from Community Foundation of Central Georgia and funded by Knight Foundation and Peyton Anderson Foundation.

A Celebration of Grace

"A Celebration of Grace" by Mary Francis BurtAbout Mary Francis: Mary Frances earned a BFA from the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia. A professional artist and designer, she is the Creative Director and Co-Owner of Burt and Burt Graphic Design and lives here in Macon. Mary Frances’ mural is titled “A Celebration of Grace” and the work was created to convey a message of goodwill. Using a color-coded system, Burt had community members participate in painting the mural along with her, offering them an opportunity to add their personal signatures to the piece.The Terminal Station murals are supported by the Downtown Challenge Grants from Community Foundation of Central Georgia and funded by Knight Foundation and Peyton Anderson Foundation.

Birds of Prey

"Birds of Prey" by Isaac RamseyAbout Isaac: Isaac Ramsey earned an MFA from the University of Connecticut in Scenic Design. He is a Professor of Scene Design at Georgia College & State University. Ramsey has national experience in scene design and production and is a Kennedy Center award winner in Scene Design for Oedipus Rex. Isaac’s mural focuses on interaction with the natural world, specifically the State of Georgia’s birds of prey and their symbolism in our mascots such as the Hawks and Falcons. Isaac had st assist him students and residents collaborate in the installation of his mural.The Terminal Station murals are supported by the Downtown Challenge Grants from Community Foundation of Central Georgia and funded by Knight Foundation and Peyton Anderson Foundation.

The Spirit of Macon and Spirit of Macon II

"The Spirit of Macon" and "Spirit of Macon II" by Abraham AbebeAbout Abraham: Abraham Abebe is a graphic design professor at Georgia College and State University who hails from Ethiopia. “I tried to develop the mural to magnify the significant service and contribution the MTA provides for the citizens and community in Macon,” Abebe said. “At the same time, I tried to reflect the diversity within the community as well. I used the power of the color in the warm energy just to show the harmony and unity in the diverse community. The MTA bus is a central element to bring the community together. I used it as a symbol to highlight its significant contribution,” said Abebe. “I also used birds as a conceptual element to reflect service of excellence, progress and achievement.”The Terminal Station murals are supported by the Downtown Challenge Grants from Community Foundation of Central Georgia and funded by Knight Foundation and Peyton Anderson Foundation.

H&H Mural

The collaged mural depicts an iconic image the Allman Brother's Band dining at H&H Restaurant along with images of the original owners Inez Hill 'Mama Hill' and Louise Hudson 'Mama Louise' who fed the band during the early days of their career.This colorful mural by artist Steven Teller was commissed by Moonhanger Group in 2021.

Ingleside Village Mural

Ingleside Village Mural by artist Erin Hawkins.This quaint shopping and arts district offers a wide range of shopping opportunities from unique gift items, antiques and collectibles to fine arts, garden accessories and potted plants. Dine at one of four unique restaurants located in the heart of this historic village.

Little Richard Mural

Little Richard by JeksCrowdfunded by the Macon community and painted in June of 2020 by artist Jeks, this mural pays an omage to Little Richard who grew up in the nearby neighborhood of Pleasant Hill. It can be viewed from the street at any time or from inside Society Garden.

Triangle Arts

"Daydreams" - Nicole Merizalde (@zaldepaints) - Nicole creates a dream-like engagement from viewers, as her mural uses dynamic color, shapes, and patterns around large-scale Greco-Roman faces. Original Capricorn Mural

The orginial mural was painted on the back of vacant Capricorn Studios in 1990 by local artist Michael Pierce. The deign of the mural memorializes the rythmic and occasionally staccato beats that filled not only the building itself, but also the city of Macon during its musical hay day. When rennovations began in 2019 to become what is now Capricorn Sound Studios & Museum, Michael restored the mural which can be found on the backside of the building and on the walls inside the music incubator. More of Michael's work can be found on the walls of Grant's Lounge.

Capricorn Mural

A hyper-realistic, larger-than-life mural of some of the most notable names in the history of Capricorn Sound Studios. The 700-square-foot mural, designed and painted by North Carolina-based graffiti/mural artist Jeks, features Capricorn co-founder Phil Walden and the legendary Duane and Gregg Allman, for whom the Allman Brothers Band is named. It’s located in the alley between the Lofts at Capricorn and Mercer Music at Capricorn and was funded by Sierra Development.

Another Point of View

"Another Point of View" - N. Carlos Robinson (@ncarlosj) - Partnering with Synovus Bank, Carlos brings familiar and representation imagery to refelct Macon's history and vibrant diversity. The organic beauty of the Ocmulgee River and middle Georgia's wildlife, a figure representing the original indigenous people of Macon-Bibb County, and nods to Macon's place as a significant part of Rock n' roll history - all come together in Mulberry St. Lane.For more information visit maconartsalliance.org/macon-mural-festival

Skate Park at Carolyn Crayton Park

"Skate Macon" - Will Barker (@willbarker.art) - Skate Macon by Will Barker is a mural that features a dazzling variety of native flora surrounding a figure skating amongst a cityscape peppered with buildings familiar to Macon locals. Will's work combines the natural surrouondings of Carolyn Crayton Park with the energy found in the skate park adjacent to create a warm, welcoming image to all visitors of the park. Oliver’s Corner Bistro (Mural Festival Stop)

"Ice Queen" - Girls Who Paint, Allison Dunavant and Christine Crawford (@girlswhopaint) - On the eye-catching Oliver's Corner Bistro on Poplar and Third, the powerhouse duo created a piece that is both elegant and bold at the same time.Artist Allison Dunavant of Johns Island, SC installed this mural sponsored by Oliver's Corner Bistro during the Macon Mural Festival presented by Macon Arts Alliance. Black History Matters Mural

"Black History Matters" Mural by Randy Heart, Tiara Ponce, and Weston StroudThe "Black History Matters" mural was painted by local Macon artists Randy Heart, Tiara Ponce, and Weston Stroud. Inspired by Black Lives Matter murals popping up in cities throughout the country during 2020, a crowdfund campaign launch to help fund Macon's own mural. Located behind the historic Roxy Theatre, the mural highlights the historic Greenwood Bottom neighbordhood. The mural was also supported through funds from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

The Murals at Quill at The Woodward

A series of murals by local artist Kevin Scene Lewis cover the walls of the literary inspired bar Quill at The Woodward. Depictions of writers Flannery O'Conner, Tennessee Williams, Alica Walker, and John Oliver Killens can be seen in this secret hideaway and rooftop bar.

No Church in the Wild mural

“No Church in the Wild" by Kevin Scene LewisThe mural was painted in 2021 by local artist Kevin Scene Lewis and highlights the site of the historic First Congregational Church also known as the Bobby Jones Performing Arts Center. The mural project is a result of an On the Table Macon grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia and Knight Foundation to further encourage activation of the space to rehabilitate the building which is a historic cornerstone of the Pleasant Hill neighborhood.

Everyday People mural

“Everyday People" by Kevin Scene LewisCompleted in 2023, this mural covers an old rainroad bridge at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Painted by local artist Kevin Scene Lewis. Funded by the Downtown Challenge Grant 2.0 from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Peyton Anderson Foundation.

The 567 Center installed four legal graffiti walls in the alleys of downtown Macon in order to activate and provide a place to create. There's no formal process for painting on the wall--anyone is free to paint on any of the four walls at any time. All they have to do is respect the rules (posted next to the wall) and not paint anything inappropriate.The graffiti walls were made possible by the generous support of Mark Thompson and a Downtown Challenge grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Peyton Anderson Foundation.

The crosswalk mural on Cherry St was designed by local artist Erin Hawkins and install by Bike Walk Macon and a group of volunteers in 2021. The mural depicts an image of a river, referencing the Ocmulgee River, with musical notes from the song "Southern Child" by Little Richard.Bike Walk Macon's Love Your Street Program is funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Downtown Challenge Grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.

The four crosswalk murals located at the intersection of Columbus Street, Appleton Avenue, and Ross Street were designed by four local artists and install by Bike Walk Macon and a group of volunteers in 2019.Lekisha Young painted the sunrise crosswalk titled “Walk Through the Storm.” Sydnee Robertson painted the piano keys crosswalk titled “Macon a Beat.” Erin Hawkins painted the Macon map crosswalk titled “Abstract Macon.” Omar Abu Staiti painted the colorful, swirl design crosswalk titled “Grace.”Bike Walk Macon's Creative Crosswalks project was funded by the Downtown Challenge Grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, supported by the John S. and James L. Macon Rocks Mural

The "Welcome to Macon Where the South Rocks" mural is located in front of the historic Douglass Theatre along Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and sponsored by Mercer University and Sierra Development. This street was historically known as the musical corridor and called the Black Broadway of the South.

L. H. Williams Mural

L H Williams Mural by Char Lockett and Bike Walk MaconThe mural is located at L H Williams Elementary School in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood was designed by local artist Char Lockett and install by Bike Walk Macon and a group of volunteers during Open Streets in 2022. This sensory mural was developed by Andrea Cooke and a On The Table grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Homeland Village Murals

The murals that cover the inside and outside of the Homeland Village Cultural Center were painted by local artist Kevin Scene Lewis in 2020 and 2021. The main mural on the outside of the building features John Henrik Clarke, a pioneer in the creation of Pan-African and Africana studies.

Nuke mural at Triangle Arts

Nuke Mural by Nels HallAtlanta and LA based artist NELS transformed this old concrete mixer into a nuclear bomb. Painted in 2019, it was part of the first series of murals at Triangle Arts.

Little Richard at Triangle Arts

Little Richard by Chris VealPainted in 2019, this mural was the first one to activate the Triangle Arts campus. Atlanta based artist Chris Veal painted Macon music legend Little Richard on the main building at Triangle.

Sanctuary Mural at Triangle Arts

Sanctuary Mural by Myra ShanaThis mural was one of 20 murals completed before the opening of Triangle Arts in 2019. Los Angeles based artist Myra Shana painted this mural on the Sanctuary Building, the first building to be completed on Triangle Art's campus. Since opening, this building has served multiple purposes like community events, drive-thru art shows, and woodworking classes.

NELS mural at Triangle Arts

NELS mural by Nels HallThe largest building on Triangle Arts' campus is named after the artist that tagged the front of it. NELS was an Atlanta and LA based artist who provided the spark to get Triangle Arts started. Besides running the Art Show at the Bonnaru Festival each year, he was an accomplished artist, street painter and designer. He also coordinated with dozens of other painters to paint all of Triangle. In 2019, he tagged the building with his “NELS” tag just before he passed.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United StateFela Kuti, Nigerian musican who was a pioneer of Afrobeat, a Nigerian music genre that combines West African music with American funk and jazzMahatma Gandhi, Indian lawyer and leader in nonviolent resistance for India's independenceMama Louise Hudson, co-founder of Macon’s famed H&H restaurant and supporter of the Allman Brothers Band in their early days.

Eleanor Roosevelt mural at Triangle Arts

Eleanor Roosevelt by Kevin Scene LewisThis mural of Eleanor Roosevelt was painted in 2023 by local artist Kevin Scene Lewis on the outside of the Sanctuary Building. Eleanor founded VALKILL FURNITURE in 1926. Triangle Arts holds the trademark for Valkill and currently builds furniture at this site under her trademark.

stARTup Studios Murals

stARTup Studios is a creative space offering art classes, artwork from local artists, and a space to just hang out with some friends with a refreshing adult beverage. The building is covered with murals from three local artists.The window triptych in the front of the building was painted by artists Nigel Esser (left), Jocelyn Tang (center) and Heidi Clinite (right) in 2021.On the side of the building, local artist painted a butterfly mural in 2022.

"Tricera-Hops" - Christian Stanley of C. Stanley Creative (@cstanleycreative) - Four gigantic dinosaurs stampede through vines and dust clouds in a explosion of colorful and whimsical creature design. The size of the work makes if a fantastic sight from the outdoor patio at Fall LIne Brewery.From Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 10, artist Christian Stanley of Winter Springs, FL installed this mural sponsored by Fall Line Brewery during the Macon Mural Festival presented by Macon Arts Alliance.
