Tour Overview
Throughout history, there were many men and women dedicated to saving the lives of service members and improving medical care for all. On this walking tour, you’ll visit the gravesites of some of these innovators from the Civil War and Spanish-American War eras, buried in the northern half of Arlington National Cemetery.
Note: The Military Medicine walking tours are organized geographically, and Tour I primarily covers the Civil War and Spanish-American War while Tour II covers the world wars and Cold War. However, two important 19th century figures - Jonathan Letterman and Walter Reed - are buried in the southern half of the cemetery and are featured on Tour II. If you are completing Tour I, consider checking out their entries on Tour II as well.
