Tour Overview
Taking Exit 133 off I95 N onto Route 201 in Fairfield, Maine, visitors will find themselves in Somerset County. This is the Upper Kennebec Valley and there is no better way to take in the area's natural beauty than a self-guided driving tour. We provide information on 16 stops, from the quirky LC Bates Museum in Hinckley to Rockwood-on-Moosehead where the Kennebec River begins.
The tour can be done in one day, but we suggest stretching it out to two days. This will allow you to stop and enjoy the area's history, attractions, and great local food. Then spend the night at an outdoor adventure resort, inn, or maybe camp.
