Crossing the Queensland / Northern Territory Border
As you travel along the Outback Way, you will cross the border between the Northern Territory and Queensland.

Heading east, you’ll enter Queensland on the Donohue Highway.

Heading west, you’ll enter the Northern Territory on the Plenty Highway.
Landscape & Bio-regions
This border region lies along the southern edge of the Mitchell Grass Downs Bio-region, featuring vast grasslands, low Acacia woodlands, and gently undulating terrain with occasional stony rises that stand out in the landscape.
To the south, the Channel Country Bio-region spreads out, with its sand plains and braided drainage systems. The expansive views here often stretch all the way to the horizon, showcasing the true vastness of the outback.
