Curtain Springs
Curtin Springs is a ‘larger than life’ full service station/roadhouse and an active cattle station run by the Severin family. They offer camel rides, station tours, accommodation, free camping area, showers at $2, toilets, bar, restaurant, lawn area, fuel, resident emus and splendid views to Mt Conner. Drop in for a chat at the bar!
Mt Conner
A lookout with spectacular views to Mt Conner is located on the south side about 9km from the Mt Conner Road junction. There is a water-less toilet, shelter, table and water tank. This is a great place to get out the camera and marvel at the unique landscape.
Alternate route to Alice Springs
Red Centre Way - Luritja Rd (through Kings Canyon and Palm Valley), Larapinta Drive & Namatjira DriveThis is an alternative 'off the beaten track route to Alice Springs'.You take the Luriyja Rd known as the Red Centre Way, which takes you to Kings Canyon, Palm Valley (4WD only) in the Finke Gorge National Park and onto Hermannsberg. Next up are Stanley Chasm, Simpsons Gap and Ellery Big Hole...leading into Alice Springs on Larapinta Drive.Some of the Red Centre Way is sealed. However, there are rough sections of corrugation. 4WD/ off road campers are recommended.For the more adventurous and campers there is an additional loop road further north, which takes you on Tylers Pass to Stokes pass to Haasts Bluff, then east on Namatjira Drive to Redbank Gorge, Ormiston Gorge, Glen Helen Resort, Serpentine Gorge. Lastly you join up to Larapinta Drive and onto Stanley Chasm, Simpsons Gap and Ellery Big Hole.Interestingly, Palm Valley and the surrounding area is the only place in Central Australia where Red Cabbage Palms (Livistona mariae) survive. The nearest specimens are 850 kilometres away in Queensland.
Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse & Gallery
The roadhouse has hot and cold snack bar and restaurant. Within this building find the native craft and workshop, as well as an exhibition of traditional Aboriginal paintings, musical instruments and boomerangs.Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse is owned and run by the Imanpa Community. As well as offering accommodation, food, petrol and the usual roadhouse services, Mt Ebenezer is also an outlet for the artwork produced by members of Imanpa community.
Erldunda Roadhouse
Sitting at the junction of the Stuart and Lasseter Highways in the Northern Territory, Erldunda is uniquely situated in an area rich in history of exploration, pioneering pastoral endeavors, cosmic events and gold fever. A lesser known fact about Erldunda, is that it is located in the centre of Australia, also known as ‘The Centre Of The Centre’.It is most known for being the base of many travellers Uluru experience. The roadhouse offers one-day tours to Uluru, fuel and an array of snacks and meals. Also onsite there is an emu enclosure that enables you to get up close and feed these fascinating animals. It also boasts the world’s largest echidna.The accommodation ranges from motel units, drive-through caravan parking area and camping sites. There is a full range of guest facilities like a swimming pool, tennis court, laundry, restaurant and bar.There is plenty of information and interpretation and the staff are friendly even during the peak periods.
