Tour Overview
This 225 km stretch between Warburton and Warakurna / Giles Weather Station features striking reddish soils, a result of the high iron content typical of the Outback deserts.
Landscape & Bio-regions
To the east of Warburton, the Warburton Ranges showcase stony rises, dramatic outcroppings, and rolling hills. This area marks the western boundary of the Central Ranges Bio-region and the eastern edge of the Gibson Desert.
The Central Ranges are known for their uplifted landforms, savannah plains, acacia woodlands, and scattered rugged trees such as corkwood, bloodwood, and desert oaks. The soil here tends to be greyer and less red than the sandy dune fields found further west in the Gibson Desert. The Rawlinson Range rises dramatically to the north.
