Public Library
The Morgan City Public Library began in 1934 as a Women's Club Project. The City of Morgan City aided in funding the project along with many citizen donations. Doors to the library were officially opened on Thanksgiving afternoon in 1934; the original location was on the 100th block of Everett Street in Morgan City.In 1951, a tax was passed to construct the facility you see today. This library has since thrived within the community and is currently one of only four municipal libraries in the state of Louisiana.

The downtown Morgan City Post Office that is seen today was first opened on July 15, 1932. Prior to this, Postmaster Robert Brashear operated the city's post office beginning in 1855. The location of this office is believed to have been a wood-frame building located right behind the current facility.
