Welcome to Central Islip’s Historic Heines Homestead. This modest Victorian home was built in 1888 by Charles Heines, a carpenter who emigrated from Germany. His son, William, and his wife raised their 5 children in this home. William worked at the Central Islip State Hospital as a landscaper. When the home was purchased by the Central Islip Civic Council in 1996, it needed significant repairs. In 1912, the home was stuccoed and looked quite different. The Council restored its original Victorian look with the original paint colors.
