A Soft Pixelation

Installation Name: “A Soft Pixelation”Artist: Andrea MyersLocation: The Avalon Hotel, 700 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139Installation: “A Soft Pixelation,” a textile-based installation composed of hundreds of repurposed, donated T-shirts sewn into a pixelated patchwork field.Artist: Andrea Myers received her BFA in Printmedia (2002) and MFA in Fiber and Material Studies (2006) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been widely exhibited, exploring material and form through a textile-based practice.Her work has been exhibited at Art Miami, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Toledo Museum of Art, Fiber Arts International, the Columbus Museum of Art, Akron Art Museum, the Textil und Rennsportmuseum in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany, and the Springfield Museum of Art. In 2012, Andrea was awarded the Efroymson Fellowship, and she has received additional grants from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, including the invitation-only 2024 Artist Elevated Grant, and the Ohio Arts Council Project Grant and Individual Excellence award. She was a 2018 participant in the Dresden Artist Exchange. Myers has participated in residencies at Ox-Bow in Saugatuck, MI, A Studio in the Woods (a program of Tulane University in New Orleans), Fortress Man Textile Symposium in Daugavpils, Latvia, and the Textile Art Center in New York City. She is a 2024-2025 US Japan Creative Arts Fellowship recipient, collaborating with Tokyo-based artist Mariko Kobayashi for the 2025 Osaka World Expo. Andrea has been commissioned to create numerous public art works and corporate projects, with works in the collections of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Omaha Children’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Chase Bank, Capital One, Dayton Metro Libraries, and Facebook Corporate Offices in Chicago. She is represented by Brandt Galleries (Columbus, OH), GUT Gallery (Dallas, TX), K Imperial Fine Art (San Francisco), McCormick Gallery (Chicago, IL), Galerie Klaus Braun (Stuttgart, Germany), and Seattle Art Source (Seattle, WA).Hotel: The Avalon Hotel is a whimsical Art Deco boutique hotel found on Ocean Drive. It captures the energy, allure, and the history of the world famous Art Deco District. Originally built in 1940 by famed Art Deco Architect Albert Anis, it continues to sit pretty amongst its just-as-lovely and vibrant boutique hotel neighbors. It is among the most celebrated on Ocean Drive. A bright yellow 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 is parked right in front of the property and has been part of many photoshoots for both film and TV. It is considered to be the most photographed automobile in the country.Through many renovations and refurbishments, The Avalon Hotel has preserved its historic heritage all while offering modern amenities one would expect at a Miami Beach resort.

BayScape

Installation Name: “BayScape_”Artist: Nathalie AlfonsoLocation: The International Inn by the Bay, 2301 Normandy Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33141Installation: “BayScape” is a light drawing that transforms the second-floor window band into a translucent, ever-shifting landscape mirroring the bay beyond.Artist: Nathalie Alfonso has participated in residencies at MASS MoCA, Anderson Ranch, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Kinosaito Arts Center, and R.A.R.O. Bogotá.(b. 1987, Bogotá, Colombia) Based in South Florida, Nathalie Alfonso is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice investigates the body, memory, ephemerality, landscape, and the tension between visibility and invisibility. Through drawing, installation, video and performance, she explores physical endurance and the expressive potential of mark-making, often revealing subtle gestures embedded in repetitive labor. Alfonso holds an MFA from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX) and a BFA from Florida International University (Miami, FL). Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, the Baker Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Spinello Projects, the Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery, Dimensions Variable, the Art and Culture Center Hollywood, Sweet Pass Sculpture Park, and Marymount University. She is the recipient of the 2025 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art, awarded by the Orlando Museum of Art. In 2020, she received the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship and has been nominated for the Joan Mitchell Fellowship (2021) and the United States Artists Fellowship (2023–2024). Alfonso has participated in residencies at MASS MoCA, Anderson Ranch, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Kinosaito Arts Center, and R.A.R.O. Bogotá.Hotel: Returning to host for the third time, The International Inn by the Bay is a vintage motel located right on the intracoastal Waterway in the Normandy Isles section of Miami Beach. It is located near Normandy Isles Country Club. Different from all the other participating properties, this motel harkens back to the motels of old with exterior room entrances and a pool just steps away from Biscayne Bay. The hotel has been designated as an individual historic site in the new Miami Modern (MiMo) architectural style by the Miami Beach Commission in cooperation with the Miami Design Preservation League.

Florida Florarium

Installation Name: “Florida Florarium” Artist: Edison Peñafiel Location: The Catalina Hotel, 1732 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139Installation: “Florida Florarium,” a monumental textile installation composed of a suspended garden of elongated fabric banners.Artist: Edison Peñafiel (b. 1985, Guayaquil, Ecuador) Miami-based visual artist Edison Peñafiel is known for his large-scale immersive installations that explore migration, memory, and systems of power. Drawing from personal and collective histories, his work blends symbolic imagery with expressive materiality to create contemplative environments that speak to transformation and resilience.Peñafiel’s practice integrates textiles, video, and sculpture to construct spaces where myth and reality converge. Influenced by the visual language of German Expressionism, his works often unfold as dreamlike landscapes—charged with both beauty and unease. Whether through monumental curtains or stitched floral compositions, he invites viewers to move through spaces of quiet upheaval and reflection.His recent solo exhibitions include MARE MAGNVM: A Floridian Odyssey at the USF Contemporary Art Museum (2024), Barrio Alto at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, and Run, Run, Run Like the Wind at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (2023). Internationally, his work has been presented at Sabrina Amrani Gallery in Madrid, Trienal Poli/Gráfica in Puerto Rico, and BIENALSUR in Argentina. In addition to his studio practice, Peñafiel curated Concrete Facade at Dot Fifty One Gallery, exploring themes of urbanity and materiality.Peñafiel is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art, the Knight Foundation Award, the Ellies Creator Award, and the Premio ARCO Comunidad de Madrid. He is a current resident of the Oolite Arts Living Arts Residency and maintains a studio in Miami Beach through the residency program. Recently awarded an Artistic Production grant from the VIA Art Fund, Peñafiel is developing De Profundis Clamavi ad Astra, a 360-degree immersive installation debuting at Locust Projects during Miami Art Week 2026 and traveling to the Orlando Museum of Art. His work is included in the collections of Oolite Arts, Elsewhere Museum, and CA2M (Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo) in Madrid. He is represented by Sabrina Amrani Gallery.Hotel: The Hotel Catalina is a funky-chic hotel with a lively, energetic, and upbeat atmosphere. Designed in the Miami Modern (MiMo) style, it was originally designed by Tony Sherman and built circa 1948. It is a boutique resort with newly renovated guest rooms, modern décor, and a rooftop pool. It is strategically located near the beach and Ocean Drive attractions and is within walking distance to Lincoln Road, The Miami Beach Convention Center, The Jackie Gleason Theatre to name a few. The Catalina has two pools, two restaurants, and three bars.It is located across the street from another No Vacancy participating hotel, the Kimpton Surfcomber.

Heartware

Installation Name: “Heartware”Artist: Fabiola LariosLocation: Riviera Suites South Beach, 318 20th Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139Installation: “Heartware” is a suspended constellation of pink piñatas studded with screens, mirrors, and live-feed cameras.Artist: Fabiola Larios (b. 1986) A Mexican interdisciplinary artist based in Miami, Fabiola Larios explores the aesthetics and politics of surveillance, self-representation, and obsolescence in the digital age. Through installations that fuse e-waste, glitter, vintage electronics, and bedazzled surveillance cameras, Larios critiques how identity is shaped by algorithmic systems and economies of visibility.Blending hyper-feminine visual languages with sharp commentary on internet culture, data commodification, and the environmental costs of technological excess, her installations often position viewers as both subject and observer, immersing them in environments of playful, uncanny scrutiny.Her work has been featured in several group exhibitions, including Sea Change at Pérez Art Museum Miami (2024), CONTINUUM at the National Museum of Art of Guatemala (2024), and PrincessCam Dreamland at The Walgreens Project by The Bass x Bakehouse (2024). Internationally, her work has been shown at PANKE Gallery (Berlin, Germany, 2022), Fundación Foto Colectania (Barcelona, Spain, 2021), and Centro Cultural Los Pinos (Mexico City, Mexico, 2022). She also participated in the New Media Block Party and Floating Film PAMM.TV at Pérez Art Museum Miami. Her project Cuteveillance has been selected for CVPR 2025.Larios was awarded the Jóvenes Creadores grant in New Technologies by Mexico’s Ministry of Culture in 2021. She is currently in residence at Bakehouse Art Complex.Hotel: The all-suite Riviera Suites South Beach blends elegant sophistication and contemporary chic accommodations furnished with a modern flair. No Place is Far Away

Installation Name: “No Place is Far Away” Artist: Evelyn Sosa Location: Nautilus Sonesta Miami Beach, 1825 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139Installation: “No Place is Far Away” a living archive of migration that begins with a simple yet profound question: What object did you take with you when you emigrated? Artist: Evelyn Sosa (b. 1989, Havana, Cuba) Evelyn Sosa is a photographer based in Miami. She graduated from the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism program at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, where she was awarded the Director's Fellowship and the Arnold Newman Scholarship. She has attended several photography workshops, including The Eddie Adams Workshop in New York, the Chemistry Laboratory of Photography Workshop in Havana, and the Photography Workshops of FotoFest International & Foundation for Culture and Society. In 2017, Sosa presented Strange Birds of Passage, her first solo exhibition, in Havana. Her second solo show, Havana Intimate, opened in New York in 2019, followed by No Place Is Far Away, her first solo exhibition in Miami in 2025. She has also participated in duo exhibitions, including You Are Everyone Who Tells a Story (New York, 2023) and Nocturno(Madrid, 2025) as part of the PHotoESPAÑA Festival. Since 2011, Sosa has participated in numerous group exhibitions across Cuba, the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Japan, including an invitation to the Kyotographie Festival in 2019. In 2024, she was awarded the Cuban Migrant Artist Resilience Fellowship by PEN International and Artists at Risk Connection, and the Miami-Dade Individual Artist (MIA) Grant by Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. Installation Name: “Portal to Niña”Artist: Liz’N Bow Location: The Betsy South Beach Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139Installation: : “Portal to Niña” an installation that transforms the iconic Betsy Egg into an entryway to the artists’ surreal, femme-centered universe.Artist: Liz’N Bow LIZN’BOW Liz Ferrer and Bow Ty, known collaboratively as LIZN’BOW, are a dynamic duo whose work spans digital art, tech, sculpture, public art, music,video and performance. For nearly a decade, they have critically engaged American and Latin pop culture through a queer and comedic lens, building a reputation for their innovative approach. Their practice encompasses two primary bodies of work: Niña, a feminist reggaeton band challenging traditional genre norms, and LIZN’BOW, a new media collaborative utilizing technology, digital tools, and community building to explore social and creative possibilities. This year marks the premiere of their Creative Capital and NEFA-funded piece, Novelas de Niñas, slated for a national tour next year, alongside a performance and a month-long Midnight Moment with Times Square Arts. LIZN’BOW’s work has been featured at institutions such as P.A.M.M. Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, MOCA North Miami, Headlands Center for the Arts, A.I.R Gallery, Locust Projects, and the Museum of Modern Art Santo Domingo, among others. They are recipients of numerous accolades, including the Creative Capital Wild Futures Award, NEFA Development & Touring Grant, Knights Art Challenge, Franklin Furnace Award, PAM CUT Labs Fellowship, and the Oolite Arts Ellies Award (2019, 2022). LIZN’BOW has completed residencies and fellowships at prestigious organizations such as MacDdowell, Headlands, Ucross, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Caldera Arts Residency, and Mana Contemporary Studio Residency.Hotel: Celebrated by Travel + Leisure Magazine as one of the best hotels in the world, this luxury boutique property resides at the north, “quiet” end of world-famous Ocean Drive. Installation Name: “Take Me Home”Artist: James Sprang Location: Sherry Frontenac Hotel, 6565 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33141Installation: “Take Me Home,” an immersive installation honoring the vibrant spirit, cultural depth, and communal joy of Caribbean carnival.Artist: James Sprang - Acclaimed multimedia artist James Allister Sprang creates audiovisual poems that celebrate the sensorial experience of Black life, considering his relationship to Diasporic timelines. His work combines image, language, and sound to explore themes of rest, joy, and survival. James Allister Sprang is a graduate of the Cooper Union (BFA) and the University of Pennsylvania (MFA). He has completed over 20 residencies domestically and internationally. His work has been shown and/or performed at institutions such as The Brooklyn Museum, TATE Museum, PAFA Museum, The Aldrich Museum, The Institute for Contemporary Art (Maine), The Kitchen, Storm King Art Center, The Public Theater, Baryshnikov Arts Center, the Concertgebouw (NL), David Nolan Gallery, The Apollo Theater, and Pioneer Works. He was awarded the Knight Foundation Art + Tech Fellowship (2022-23), the Pew Fellowship (2023-25), the Montalvo Arts International Music & Composition Fellowship (2024-26), and the Lincoln Center Collider Fellowship (2025-26). Tierra Húmeda

Installation Name: “Tierra Húmeda,” Artist: Amanda Linares Location: The Miami Beach EDITION, 2901 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33140Installation: “Tierra Húmeda,” an installation of clay tiles and graphite drawings on wood that explores the intertwined relationship between land and memory.Artist: Amanda Linares Cuban-born multidisciplinary artist Amanda Linares is based in Miami, Florida. Her work explores universal themes of identity, displacement, absence, and reconnection through diverse media, including drawing, installation, artist books, and photography. Linares employs a poetic language, engaging with narration and space by incorporating reflection, transparency, found objects, and typographical elements. She holds a technical degree in printmaking from San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, and a BFA in graphic design from New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. In September 2024, Linares presented the site-specific immersive solo exhibition Yo vengo de todas partes, y hacia todas partes voy at Piero Atchugarry Gallery. Additionally, in August 2024, she debuted her first solo museum exhibition, Dialogues Across Walls, at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. This year, she presented her first outdoor site-specific installation, Day Before Yesterday, at the Deering Estate, honoring Indigenous tribes of South Florida. Her work has been exhibited at Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Dot Fiftyone Gallery, Oolite Arts, and Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami, Florida, among others. Notably, her piece Donde Comen Dos, Comen Tres (Where Two Can Eat, Three Can Eat) was acquired by The Bass Museum in 2023 and included in their permanent collection. Linares participated in the 2025 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art exhibition at the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA). She joined the Home + Away program residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts (2021) and MASS MoCA (2023), both in collaboration with Oolite Arts. She is the recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium FY 2024-2025 Fellowship, the 2022 Ellies Creator Award by Oolite Arts, and the 2023 Corral & Cathers Artist Fund Award by the Coral Gables Community Foundation. His vibrant and intricate work, often exploring themes of myth and magic, is included in major collections and has been widely exhibited. Mar received his BFA from California College of the Arts (CCA), San Francisco, and his MFA from Florida International University. He participated in the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2011). Upcoming exhibitions include an artist-curated project at the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH; The Atrium Project: 10 Years and 10 Stories at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO; and Something Borrowed, Something New at the Sarasota Art Museum. Recent solo exhibitions include a 15-year career survey Myth and Magic at Tampa Museum of Art (2023-2024); Rising Sun at the Kemper Museum (2022-2023); Magic Vessel at Everson Museum of Art (2023); Pepe Mar at Baker Museum of Art (2023-2024); Tesoro: Pepe Mar’s Love Letter to the Frost at Frost Art Museum in Miami (2020-2022); and Dragonfruit at The Mattress Factory Museum of Contemporary Art, Pittsburgh (2019-2020). Installation Name: “Unexpected Encounters”Artist: Patty Suau Location: Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, 1717 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139Installation: “Unexpected Encounters” an interactive installation that merges mirrors with life-size figure drawings to create optical illusions evoking moments of affection.Artist: Patty Suau Patty Suau is a Cuban-American artist born and raised in Miami, Florida. Her practice explores self-love, connection, intimacy, and emotional intelligence through drawing, installation, sculpture, and textiles. She is also the creator of TinyFcknPix, an elaborate series of miniature erotic drawings. Suau studied at New World School of the Arts and Maryland Institute College of Art. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Florida International University in 2010. Selected solo exhibitions include Love Me/Touch Me (2020) at Bay Parc in Midtown Miami, Florida, and Tiny Fckn Pix (2018) at Bodhi Wellness Center in Coral Gables, Florida. Selected group exhibitions include Within Interdependence at YoungArts, Miami, Florida (2018), National YoungArts Foundation at PULSE, Miami Beach (2018), and Signature, AQUA, Miami Beach (2016).Hotel: The Surfcomber is a well-established Miami Beach staple that has been recently renovated without losing its original Art Deco appeal. It was built in 1948 and added to the National Register of Historic places in 1979. The Surfcomber served as the headquarters for MTV during the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards and for Bud Light during Super Bowl XLIV in 2010.Kimpton Surfcomber perfectly embodies subdued sophistication with a South Beach flair. Inside, the posh new makeover reveals Calacutta marble, velvety sofas and understated statement pieces. A calming color palette is accented with pops of pink grapefruit, blood orange, pine green. Clean lines abound, both curved and linear, echoing the heritage of this great Art Deco building.

Wish You Were Here

Installation Name: “Wish you were Here”Artist: Denise TreizmanLocation: The Cadillac Hotel, 3925 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33140Installation: “Wish you were Here” a large-scale tapestry woven from pool noodles and playful found objects.Artist: Denise Treizman (b. 1979, Chile) Denise Treizman creates immersive installations and sculptural works by blending repurposed materials, handcrafted elements, and remnants of mass consumption. Her practice balances fascination and critique, transforming everyday objects into dynamic, thought-provoking compositions. Her vibrant use of color amplifies the playful energy of her work, stemming from an irresistible attraction to colorful, mass-produced objects and a deeper inquiry into their transient nature. Treizman earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (2013 | New York, NY) and is currently a studio resident at Laundromat Art Space in Miami, Florida. She has had solo exhibitions at the Wiregrass Museum of Art (2025 | Dothan, AL), the Coral Springs Museum of Art (2024), Tiger Strikes Asteroid Chicago (2024), University Galleries of Illinois State University (2021), Proto Gomez Gallery (2021 | New York, NY), Cuchifritos Gallery (2016 | New York, NY), and Wave Hill’s Sunroom Project Space (2016 | Bronx, NY). She was part of the Bronx Museum for the Arts’ AIM Biennial (2015) and prominently featured in the 2023 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art at the Orlando Museum of Art. She has participated in notable artist residencies, such as the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NYC; Mass MoCA; NARS Foundation; Triangle Workshop; ACRE Residency; Ox-Bow Residency; and Vermont Studio Center. Recent achievements include being the Helen M. Salzberg Visiting Artist Fellow at Palm Beach State College (2024), receiving the South Florida Cultural Consortium Award (2024), and the Ellies Creator Award (2025).Hotel: The Cadillac marries a European hospitality vibe with the Art Deco design elements Miami Beach is known for. Designed by architect Roy France in 1940, it incorporates Streamline Moderne features with Art Deco style. Technological and architectural innovations were used throughout, replacing sharp edges with smooth rounded corners. As one might guess from the name, the hotel has an affiliation with the Cadillac Car Company that later became part of General Motors. The original hotel had a second tower constructed in the late 1950’s and underwent a significant renovation in 2004.

Working across disciplines, his practice is permeated by the idea of entanglement—the touching, changing, mutating relationships between species and their environments. His sculptures, drawings, and installations create a visual language for ecological entanglement, referencing fungal networks, epiphytic plants, and emergent animal architectures found in South Florida. Pivnik graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Sculpture in 2018. He is the founder and co-director of the Institute of Queer Ecology (IQECO), an ever-evolving collaborative organism that has engaged over 150 artists in interdisciplinary programming grounded in the theoretical framework of Queer Ecology. He has presented solo exhibitions with Dalé Zine (FL), Biosphere 2 (AZ), YoungArts (FL), and Hi-Lo Press (GA). Pivnik has been awarded Knight Arts Challenge Awards in 2019 and 2021, and a Creative Capital Award (2025). Working as the Institute of Queer Ecology, Pivnik has presented projects with the Guggenheim Museum (New York, NY), the United Nations - ART 2030 (New York, NY), Museo de Arte Zapopan (Mexico), Centre Pompidou-Metz (France), Museum Schloss Moyland (Germany), and the Medellín Museum of Modern Art (Colombia), among others.Hotel:The Shelborne By Proper has recently undergone a $100M reinvention.
