Welcome to the Redlin Art Center, Terry Redlin’s gift to his hometown.
Over 160 original oil paintings are on display. The Gallery is self guided. This complimentary audio tour is available via your personal cell phone.
In 1952, at age 15, Terry Redlin lost a leg in a motorcycle accident. At that time, the State of South Dakota had a scholarship program for students with disabilities. Terry Redlin was awarded a $1500 scholarship. Without it, his family would not have had the resources to send Terry to college.
By 1984, Terry was well on his way to having a successful career as a wildlife artist. His son, Charles, convinced his father to stop selling original oil paintings so that someday a building could be built to share the paintings with others. Terry agreed on one condition – he wanted the building built in his hometown of Watertown, South Dakota to repay the gift of the scholarship.
On June 6, 1997, the Redlin family opened the Redlin Art Center. As part of the family’s gift, admission is free and the Gallery is open year round, seven days a week.
Enjoy your visit.
