The Longmont Museum is a center for culture in Northern Colorado where people of all ages explore history, experience art, and discover new ideas through dynamic programs, exhibitions, and events.

The Longmont Museum was established in 1936 and began exhibiting objects and photographs documenting local history in 1940. In 1970, the Museum became a department of the City of Longmont, which now funds basic operations. After exhibiting from many spaces in Longmont, the Museum found a permanent home at 400 Quail Road in 2002. In 2015, the Museum opened the Stewart Auditorium, an 11,000 square foot expansion made possible by a $4.5 million capital campaign. The expansion doubled the Museum’s public space, adding a 250- seat auditorium, a two-story atrium, and the Kaiser Permanente Education Center. In 2018, the Museum finished construction on a permanent off-site storage building to house the more than 17,000 historic artifacts in its 3-D collection. The Museum’s four major program areas include education, exhibitions, collections, and performance.
