Welcome to the Historic Golconda Audio Tour made possible by Main Street Golconda, Inc., and the Illinois Department of Tourism.
Golconda is one of the oldest towns in Illinois and most of the town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In fact, it was the 25th historic place approved in the State of Illinois.
There are actually another five sites listed in Pope County on the National Register. They include: Millstone Bluff, Bridge over Hillsbranch, Kincaid Site and two undisclosed archeological sites. You’ll hear more about them on the tour.
