1: Central Darling Shire Council Chambers

This grand two-storey public building was once home to the London Chartered Bank of Australia. It was built from locally quarried sandstone in 1887 after a tender had been won by T Burnett of Goodwood, South Australia.The verandah is a particularly fine example of late Victorian architecture, with paired timber posts embellished with delicate cast iron lacework. Views over Wilcannia would have been enjoyed by the bank manager, who lived in residence upstairs.
