Tour Overview

The Yorkshire Dales are celebrated worldwide for their stunning landscapes: green rolling hills stitched together with dry stone walls, dramatic limestone crags, thousands of grazing sheep, and historic ruins nestled in charming towns and villages. With the renewed popularity of All Creatures Great and Small, the Dales have become inseparably linked with the series—perfect for exploring on this unique tour.

Departing York, we'll make our way to our first stop in Grassington. This lovely village, with its quaint Market Square, charming shops, cafes, and pubs, doubles as “Darrowby” in the new series.

From Grassington, we venture off the beaten path through the scenic Wharfedale and onto Beggarman’s Pass, the highest road in the Dales. Along this scenic route, we pass filming locations like St. Michael’s Church in Hubberholme (James and Helen’s wedding venue) and Yockenthwaite Farm (the Aldersons’ farm). The pass eventually opens up high above Wensleydale, offering breathtaking views as we descend into Hawes, the lively “Capital of the Dales.” Here, take time to explore, enjoy a pub lunch, or visit the famous Wensleydale Creamery for a taste of its historic cheese.

After lunch, we continue through Wensleydale to Aysgarth Falls, featured in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Take in the beauty of the falls, a perfect spot for photos and scenic views.

Our final stop is Castle Bolton, a magnificent 14th-century fortress where Herriot proposed to his wife. Pause for a photo op with the castle’s grand facade as a backdrop, and take in panoramic views of Wensleydale before we return to York through more stunning countryside.
