Tour Overview

Step into the heart of England’s most enchanting landscape on this captivating half-day tour, celebrating the beauty of the landscape and what made the National Park a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your journey begins with a serene cruise across Lake Windermere, England’s largest and most famous lake. As the boat glides through shimmering waters framed by rolling fells and ancient woodlands, you’ll hear fascinating tales, local legends, and the history that shaped this remarkable region.

Next, travel to Hill Top Farm in the peaceful village of Near Sawrey — the beloved 17th-century farmhouse Beatrix Potter purchased in 1905. Every room is a time capsule, filled with her personal belongings, sketches, and references to her classic tales. The house remains almost exactly as she left it, lovingly preserved by the National Trust as a tribute to her life, art, and conservation legacy.
(Please note: if Hill Top is closed on Fridays during term time or between November - February, the tour will instead visit The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness).

From there, the tour continues to Tarn Hows, one of the Lake District’s most photographed spots. Once owned by Beatrix Potter herself, this picturesque man-made tarn offers panoramic views, a perfect photo opportunity, and a peaceful reminder of her dedication to preserving natural beauty — much of which she entrusted to the National Trust.

The final stop is the storybook village of Hawkshead, with its medieval charm, winding lanes, and whitewashed cottages. Explore local artisan shops, sample regional delights like Hawkshead Relish and Grasmere Gingerbread, and visit the Grammar School once attended by William Wordsworth, where his early writings are still on display.

Throughout this unforgettable experience, you’ll uncover how Beatrix Potter’s passion for nature, art, and farming helped protect the Lake District for generations to come.
