Aluminium Bridge // Ocean’s Twelve
In the 21st century, the Aluminum Bridge is plagued by tourists who put on love locks. The weight of the heavy locks posed a threat to the bridge's relatively light construction. The drawbridge (long since out of action) connects Staalstraat with Nieuwe Doelenstraat and Kloveniersburgwal. Over the years, the area surrounding the bridge has been used as a backdrop for several feature films like The Diary of Anne Frank, Puppet on a Chain, and Oceans Twelve.

Skinny Bridge // Diamonds Are Forever
The Skinny Bridge (bridge no. 242) is a double drawbridge across the river Amstel. The present bridge was built in 1934, but the first bridge at this site was built in 1691. Because this bridge was very narrow, the locals called it Skinny Bridge. There is also a local legend that the bridge was named after two skinny sisters who lived on opposite sides of the river. It is said that they had the wooden bridge built to make visiting each other easier.
