Tour Overview
George-Étienne Cartier became a Member of Parliament in 1848, the same year he bought this house. Montréal was the capital of the United Province of Canada and its largest city. At that time, the area we now call Old Montréal was the centre of the city. It was the seat of the political, judicial, financial and commercial powers of the colony. Many of the places frequented by the Cartiers still exist today and bear witness to this exciting period.
Put on your finest hat and discover Cartier’s neighbourhood!
