Water safety

We encourage all swimmers to use supervised swimming areas and to check surf conditions regularly.Surfguard tips If surf is present, beware of rip currents! Rip currents are powerful, fast-moving seaward currents that can pull even the strongest swimmers out to sea. When in doubt, don’t go out. Keep children at arm's length at all times when in water. Never swim alone. Pool floaties are not allowed at any time.

Homestead trail

The two Homestead trails pass through forest and farmland along the shores of New London Bay. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

Cavendish Dunelands trail

Stunning views of sand dunes and freshwater ponds. Links to Homestead and Gulf Shore Way West.

Cavendish Beach trail

Passes through a sugar maple stand before reaching the Cavendish Beach Facility and connecting to Cavendish Dunelands. Suitable for most bikes. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

Clark’s Lane Trail

Starts at Cavendish Grove and connects to Cavendish Dunelands and Cavendish Beach trails. Suitable for most bikes. Passes along fields and forest edges. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended

Gulf Shore Way West trail

Paved, multi-use trail skirting the top of red sandstone cliffs with magnificent views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This trail is a perfect conduit from Cavendish to North Rustico, or anywhere in between. Suitable for all bikes and for walking, jogging, cycling or rollerblading. Trailheads at Oceanview and North Rustico entry gate.

Cavendish Campground

Cavendish is the park's largest campground, and is close to a beach, many restaurants, family activities and shops. Open approximately June to September.

Green Gables Heritage Place

Heritage site commemorating the life and works of Canadian author L.M. Montgomery and the impact of her famous red haired heroine, Anne Shirley.Open daily May to October and by appointment April 15-30 and November 1-30.

Balsam Hollow - Green Gables Heritage Place trails

This peaceful walk includes the famous Lovers’ Lane, a treasured place mentioned frequently in author L.M. Montgomery’s writings. Main trail passes through woodlands and follows a brook. Includes “Lover’s Lane”. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

Haunted Wood - Green Gables Heritage Place trails

This wooded area served as the inspiration for the Haunted Wood that appeared in Anne of Green Gables. Passes near the Cavendish Cemetery, resting place of L.M. Montgomery, and connects to the Site of L.M. Montgomery’s Cavendish Home (separate entry fee or combo pass required). If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

MacNeills Brook Beach

Beach access point located along Gulf Shore Way West with staircase down to the beach. Small area adjacent to the gravel path has a bench and a picnic table.

North Rustico Beach

Wide beach with views of sandstone cliffs to the west, located just inside the North Rustico entrances to PEI National Park.

Robinsons Island Trail System

The trail system at Robinsons Island, including lookout platforms, beach access points, and mountain bike features are available for hikers and cyclists.Visitors looking to access the Robinsons Island Trail System will be able to park at the Brackley Beach Complex and hike or cycle to the island. The multi-use trail extends from Brackley Main Beach to Robinsons Island. The packed gravel trail runs along the causeway to Robinsons Island and is approximately 3.5 km in length.

Gulf Shore Way East trail

Stretching from Brackley to Dalvay, this paved, multi-use trail runs along the coast from Dalvay Gate all the way to Brackley Beach.Take in the beautiful views of sand dunes, salt marshes and forests from a whole new point-of-view. Suitable for all bikes and walking, jogging, cycling or rollerblading. Trailheads located at Brackley Beach Complex and Dalvay Crescent.

Farmlands trail

This path takes you along old fields and mixed woodlands and close to the site of a former archaeological dig. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

Bubbling Springs trail

A favourite among birdwatchers, this path has lookouts that offer great views of waterfowl at Long Pond. Hybrid or mountain bikes recommended. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

Brackley Beach

Shaws Beach

Located just a few minutes east of the Brackley entrance, Shaws Beach is accessed using stairs and a small boardwalk over the dunes.

Covehead Beach

Sandy beach located by Covehead Lighthouse. Beach is accessed via a sandy path that passes around the base of the lighthouse and down a set of steps. Parking for Covehead Beach is along Gulf Shore Parkway East, adjacent to the lighthouse.

Iconic lighthouse located near Covehead Harbour adjacent to Gulf Shore Parkway East and Gulf Shore Way East.

Stanhope Cape Beach

Located right across from the Bayshore Road entrance to the Park, the beach is accessed using a set of stairs.

Ross Lane Beach

Smaller than the better known Brackley Beach located to the West, Ross Lane is home to the same great views and same sandy beach perfect for a great beach day, but with half the crowd! Ross Lane Beach is accessed using steps and a short boardwalk.

Stanhope Campground

Stanhope Campground is a quiet, scenic campground with over 100 sites, located minutes from the bustling Covehead Harbour. Open approximately June to September.

Dalvay Beach

Located across the street from the entrance to Dalvay-by-the-Sea National Historic Site, Dalvay Beach is accessed via a set of stairs. There is a small lookout area at the top of the stairs equipped with benches for those wishing for a place to sit and take in the ocean views.

Dalvay-by-the-Sea National Historic Site

Impressive heritage building that began as a summer home to a wealthy American oil tycoon. Since that time, Its story has been a complicated one with many interesting characters playing roles, including a prince and a rum running pirate!

Greenwich

Greenwich Dunes trail

Travel across homestead fields, through a forest stand, and over Bowley Pond on a floating boardwalk as you journey toward your first sight of the majestic Greenwich dunes. Only part of this trail can be explored by bike. You can travel as far as the junction with the Tlaqatik Trail and then continue on foot. If you choose to cycle, hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended.

Havre Saint Pierre trail

This short trail takes you along the shores of beautiful St. Peters Bay.

Tlaqatik trail

Experience the history of the area and the story of human interaction with the land over time, as you journey along the edges of St. Peters Bay. If you choose to cycle, then hybrid or mountain bikes are recommended. Note: Please dismount at boardwalk.

Greenwich Interpretation Centre

The Greenwich Interpretation Centre features over 20 exhibits to help you learn and appreciate the amazing natural and cultural history of this special place.Building is fully wheelchair accessible.

Mi’kmaw Wigwam

Mi’kmaw wigwam constructed using traditional methods located beside Greenwich Dunes Trail.
