Tour Overview
Welcome to the Rideau Canal. On this tour, you will discover how the Rideau Canal has helped shape the development of the city of Ottawa.
Because of its length, this route was designed as a bike tour, for a duration of 1 hr 30 min. However, you can also do this tour on foot in about 3 hrs. If biking, please stay on the bike path, and be careful of pedestrians. You can rent a bike near the starting point.
To starting point, coming from Elgin Street:
On Elgin Street, find the row of provincial flags of Canada, just north of the National Arts Centre. To the right of these flags, go through the terrace to access the down ramp towards the Canal.
To starting point, coming from Bytown Museum:
If coming from the bottom of the locks, follow Canal Lane towards the Wellington underpass. Stay right under the large archway.
