PCNA test 1

Hello!
Hello. If you are continuing your visit, please move on to the next audio track now. If you are just starting out, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pierre Masson. Everyone in the village calls me "Pit." I represent the five generations of my family who have worked here as bakers, carters, guards, ambulance drivers, office clerks, canoeists, cooks' helpers, sextons, and telegraph operators. My family lived here from 1863 to 1980. It actively participated in the life of the island. We witnessed tragic events, the hard work of many workers, changes in the quarantine station facilities, the continuous improvement of medical care, the arrival of thousands of immigrants, the changes that have improved their living conditions, and much more. Grosse Île has been a source of hope for many immigrants and the starting point for wonderful stories, but for others it has also been a painful haven and a tragic tomb. I will be the spokesperson for all these stories during your discovery tour.We are now about to explore 21 different sites together. Each one is identified with a sign like the one shown in the photo area. I will invite you to visit the site if it is open to the public or if an exhibit is available. To help you manage your time and not miss the most important attractions, we have ranked each stop following three categories, which are identified by coloured map pins on the map locating the stops on the app. (see the key in the photo area).
