Welcome to the Rutherford Historic Preservation Society’s walking tour of Park Avenue! Much of our downtown dates from about 1876 to 1923. This tour highlights properties on the town’s Historic Sites Inventory, and gives some of their history. While many of these buildings have been changed over time, you can still see elements of their original structures, particularly when you look above the modern storefronts at the upper stories.
Our tour begins at the train station and continues down Park Avenue, a little past Lincoln Park. Each stop features images of how the buildings looked when they were originally constructed. Click on an image and then the “i” button to see its source. You can take the tour at your own pace, so feel free to stop in at a local business to shop or get a snack along the way.
