Long Point State Park

Located on the east shore of Cayuga Lake just South of Aurora NY, in Finger Lakes Wine country, Long Point State Park provides a 4-lane boat launch, a modern playground, picnic areas, fishing access, lake access, 4.5 miles of hiking trails, and spectacular sunsets over Cayuga Lake.The easy access to the Cayuga Lake shore makes it popular for paddle-sports enthusiasts and fishermen alike. Waterfowl and migratory birds can be viewed from the shoreline.

C-S Canal Lock (Mud Lock)

Boat launch and access to Cayuga Lake. Now boasting a new concrete launch ramp with floating boarding docks to allow for launches at lower lake levels. Parking lot holds up to 21 vehicles with trailers and seven single vehicles, includes accessible parking.

Montezuma Audubon Center

The Montezuma Audubon Center has something for everyone with 2.5 miles of trails for hikers, paddlers, walkers, snowshoers (in season, of course), and even those who want to stay in their vehicles for a scenic drive. More than 9,000 acres in the Complex Area is federal land specifically used to provide quality habitat for migratory birds Many programs for school field trips, colleges, community groups, and birding tours Stop in at the Montezuma Audubon Center on the northwest edge of the complex to find out what to look for at the particular time of year you are visiting Restroom available in the Center when open. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm. 2 restrooms, 3 stalls each, are also available at the beginning of the Seneca Trail which begins at the Visitor Center parking area. They are open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge provides resting, feeding, and nesting habitat for waterfowl and other migratory birds. Montezuma is situated in the middle of one of the most active flight lanes in the Atlantic Flyway. The Refuge is located at the north end of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. The refuge contains 9,809 acres and is situated in Seneca, Wayne, and Cayuga Counties. The Refuge is 35 miles (56 km) west of Syracuse, 40 miles (64 km) north of Ithaca, and 45 miles (72 km) east of Rochester.Two hundred forty-two species of birds, 43 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles, and 16 species of amphibians can be found on the refuge for at least part of the year. The wide array of wildlife can be credited to the varied habitat types found here, from marsh to forest, shrub, and grassland.The 3.5 mile Wildlife Drive opens on April 1 (weather-permitting) and closes for the season on December 1. Depending on the season, you will see waterfowl, herons and other marsh birds, Canada geese, bald eagle, osprey, harriers and other birds of prey, and shorebirds. You may also see muskrat, white-tailed deer, mink, fox or coyote.

Cayuga Lake State Park

Cayuga Lake State Park's terrain is flat at lakeshore, where the beach and sun lawns are, then slopes gently uphill to campsites and cabins. The scenic highlight of the park is its expansive view of Cayuga Lake. In the shallow water near the park, largemouth bass, bullheads and carp thrive. In deeper water, anglers can catch northern pike, small mouth bass, lake trout, landlocked salmon and many other varieties of fish. The park has a boat launch, playground, playing field.

Palmyra Wetland Nature Trail

One-mile trail interprets one of the Erie Canal’s wetland communities. Rich in both natural and historic interest. During your walk along level terrain you will be guided by numbered posts that correspond to paragraphs in the trail booklet which describes flora and fauna at each of 14 sites along the trail. The booklet can be obtained from the Village of Palmyra Clerk’s Office.
