1. The battle of the elms

When it was decided to cut down the elms in Kungsträdgrden in 1971, many Stockholmers protested. Eventually, the protesters and the police clashed...Our guides are continuing their journey even further back in time... (240m to the next stop).

2. The murder at the Opera!

We now travel even further back in time and land in March 1792…There’s a masquerade ball at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. Everyone is dressed up for the occasion, and so are our guides, Callux and Aurora! But, something is about to happen that will alter the course of history!A shot is fired! 3. The secret passage...

This secret door is not easy to spot - but why is there a door straight into the water?In the 17th century, there used to be a wooden bridge that led to the island we now stand on. 4. The Executioner

Now, Callux and Aurora find themselves lost in the Old Town during the Middle Ages!It’s freezing and pitch-black, and they’re barefoot, stumbling through filthy streets with pigs and chickens. Aurora tells Callux who lives on Helvetesgränd (Hell Alley), and he’s not too keen on what he hears...(120m to the next stop)

5. Pee & Poo in the past

What did you do when you needed to go to the toilet in the past, and how did you stay clean?Being poor and keeping yourself clean in the Middle Ages wasn't easy! Callux also shares a clever trick to figure out a house's age!(165m to the next stop).

6. The Silver Treasure!

7. The Runestone!

Spot the stone and the cannon!Why is there a cannon barrel sticking out of the ground at Prästgatan/Kåkbrinken, and why is a genuine Viking Age runestone—older than the Old Town itself—built into the wall beside it? Lean in close—the voices of ancient Vikings still echo through the stone...(285m to the next stop).

8. Mårten Trotzigs alley

We are getting close to Stockholm's narrowest street - Mårten Trotzig's alley!A long time ago, thieves hid at the top of the stairs, waiting for someone coming home from the pubs in the Old Town. They would give them a little "push," making them fall down the stairs, and then steal all their money and valuables!(125m to the next stop).

9. The Ghosts of the Blackfriars!

In the Middle Ages, a monastery stood here – and legend says the Blackfriars still haunt it!The monks held power and wealth, even sheltering criminals for a fee. But King Gustav Vasa, who ruled in the 1500s, wasn’t having it – he had the monastery torn down. Now, only gravestones and dark cellar vaults remain...Right next door, you’ll find the Old Town’s only bathhouse – Storkyrkobadet!(175m to the next stop).

10. The Stockholm Bloodbath!

In 1520, one of the most horrific events in the history of the Old Town took place, and our guides, are there - right when it happens!The Danish king Christian II has just become king of Sweden and takes terrible revenge on his opponents!What's about to happen at Stortorget (the main square)... (290m to the next stop).

11. The iron boy!

Do you want to boost your luck?Here you can see "The Iron Boy" – just 15 centimetres tall! If you pat him on the head or give him something small, it’s said that he brings good luck. Many people make sure he stays warm in winter, sometimes with a hat and scarf!Isn’t he cute?
