Tour Overview

Experience the vibrant heart of Bavaria on this ultimate Munich tour. Begin at the bustling Karlsplatz (Stachus), the city's central hub, and stroll down the pedestrian Neuhauser Strasse until you reach the historic Marienplatz, home to the famous Glockenspiel.

Admire the imposing twin towers of the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Lady) before immersing yourself in the local flavours at the open-air Viktualienmarkt. From there, soak up the traditional atmosphere at the legendary Hofbräuhaus am Platzl.

Continue your journey to the grand Odeonsplatz and Eldherrnhalle, taking in the stunning Italianate architecture of the Theatinerkirche (St. Cajetan's).

Step into royal history at the opulent Munich Residenz (Royal Palace), then escape to nature with a relaxing walk through the sprawling English Garden (Englischer Garten).

Conclude your tour at the majestic Siegestor (Victory Gate), a monument symbolizing peace and triumph.

Tour Starting Point

Karlsplatz (Stachus) is a massive, multi-level transport interchange, combining U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Tram, and Bus services.

The Easiest Way to Find It:

U-Bahn (Subway)

The U-Bahn station is located deep underground and is a central hub.

U-Bahn Station: Karlsplatz (Stachus)

Lines: U4 and U5

Note: There is a long pedestrian tunnel connecting this station to the one at Hauptbahnhof (Main Station), allowing easy transfers to the U1, U2, U7, and U8 lines without going to the surface.

S-Bahn (City Rail)

The S-Bahn station is located in a lower level of the main square building.

S-Bahn Station: Karlsplatz (Stachus)

Lines: S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7, S8

Note: This is a major stop on the city's east-west S-Bahn corridor, providing direct access to the airport, the main station, and the exhibition center (Messe).

Tram

Tram lines stop on the street level on both sides of the square.

Tram Stops: Karlsplatz (Stachus) / Hauptbahnhof Nord

Lines: 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 (and night trams N16, N17, N19, N20)

Note: These trams connect the city center to areas like the Westend (Schloss Nymphenburg) and the Ostbahnhof area.

Bus

Several city bus routes also serve the square, primarily stopping on the streets leading away from it.

Bus Stops: Karlsplatz (Stachus) / Hauptbahnhof

Lines: 58, 62, 63, 68, 100

Note: The 100 bus is a useful tourist line that connects the Main Station to the main sights like the Pinakotheken museums and the English Garden.
