Tour Starting Point
Dam Square (in Dutch: de Dam) is the very heart of Amsterdam's historic city centre.
The Easiest Way to Find It:
For most visitors, the journey starts at Amsterdam Centraal Station (the main train station). Dam Square is a very short and straight walk from there.
Exit Amsterdam Centraal Station from the main front entrance (the side facing the city, not the river). You will be on a large street called Damrak.
Walk straight down Damrak for about 5-10 minutes. You will see shops, tram lines, and crowds of people.
Dam Square is at the end of this street. You'll know you're there when you see the grand Royal Palace (Koninklijk Paleis) on your right and the large white National Monument in the middle of the square.
