Tour Overview
Welcome to Trail A at Walk to the Rock, this 1.5-mile path where each step draws you deeper into the sights, sounds, and stories of the 1800s. As you walk beneath the towering shadow of Chimney Rock—once a lifeline for weary pioneers—feel the prairie wind, imagine wagon wheels turning, and hear the echoes of footsteps that shaped this land. As pioneer Richard Ballantyne wrote in 1848, "Camped opposite Chimney Rock... Here the scenery is remarkable, interesting and romantic.... It produces an impression as if we were bordering on a large and antiquated city." Let this journey bring you closer to that wonder and history.
