Tour Overview
Education building designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright
Located near 21st St & Hillside at the northwest corner of the current Wichita State University campus, the Corbin Education Center was named in honor of former Wichita University President Harry F. Corbin Jr. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright at age 90 in 1957, the building was dedicated in 1964. Credit for bringing Frank Lloyd Wright to WSU goes to Dr. Jackson Powell, Dean of Education from 1950 to 1966.
The building, originally named the Juvenile Cultural Center, was designed to house the College of Education. It was intended to be a teaching laboratory where student teachers could observe children as they learned.
