Start - The Yellow Chimney

Start your tour with the imposing chimney at 60mts height ! It has stood for over 130 years.

2

The Cable Park

There was always water rising out of the ground here so it was decided to build a cable park for enthusiastic wave boarders - check out the action.

3

Railway cycles

A relic from when the sugar factory had freight and passenger trains is now used as a recreational activity for families to cycle along the tracks which run for 16km!

4

The "Sugar" Earth Pools

Walk up to the top of the peninsular. The high ground (10mts above sea level) is the result of 120 years of washing sugar beets that came into the factory from all around Fyn and Jutland. The washed off earth was transported by conveyor belts to the peninsular area and became known as the "Earth Pools". The quantity of earth deposited was the equivalent of 10 olympic sized swimming pools every year! There are over 100 different plants growing on the hill and over 130 different species of birds have been observed. Buck and foxes have also been seen.

5

Southern end of the Earth pools

6

Sea Views of THOR's ISLAND

From here the path offers expansive views from high up over the little Belt sea.

7

Sheep graze on the peninsular!

The peninsular has several sheep paddocks in the earth pools area and it is permitted to walk through their paddock. Dogs must always be on a leash and it is not permitted to feed them. A lamb is on the city+s coat of arms.

8

BEACH PATH

Proceed along the beach.....past quaint Danish "summer cottages" and the camping grounds. There are 2 large piers which are perfect to take a swim from. In winter when piers are dismantled, cormorants are often seen drying their wings after a fishing trip!

9

Public Toilets and the summer terraces of the yacht club.

10

Beachfront Townhouses

Holiday rental townhouses with the beach on the front doorstep and the Marina on the back doorstep.

11

The Harbour Mouth!

Watch ships sailing in and out.....look out for the little red ferry which goes across to Bågø or Bow Island.

12

Harbour beach and the Marina

Stroll along the waterfront with boats galore in the 600 berth marina. In winter this harbour beach can be covered with snow!

13

SMALL BOAT MARINA

14

BAGFYR......the preserved old BOW signal tower to help ships enter the harbour correctly.

The old lighthouse has stood guard for approaching ships to the harbour since 1900. In 1975 the harbour entrance was adjusted and new signals were erected.

The Sugar Factory and end of tour.

Admire the old Sugar factory from several angles.
