Pacific House

20 Custom House Plaza- Pacific House is a ticket sales and will-call location. Built in 1847 as a barracks and storehouse for the American military, this two-story adobe has been a courthouse, a pub, local newspaper office, a church, and more. Now it is home to a California State Parks Museum, interpreting different eras of Monterey history.State Parks

1 Custom House Plaza- Custom House is a ticket sales location.1820’s- State Historic Landmark #1 The oldest government building in California is the setting for a colorful Mexican “fandango”. Learn about early California dances and music with the Alta California Dancers and purchase a treasure at the gift shop.State Parks

Old Fisherman's Wharf

#1 Fisherman's WharfThomas Larkin built the wharf in 1845 for regular passenger and freight service ships arriving four times weekly. A vibrant sardine industry and need for better maintenance prompted the City to assume ownership in 1913. Today, visitors enjoy great restaurants, gift shops, whale watching, fishing trips and harbor cruises.Fisherman's Wharf Association

First Brick House

Heritage HarborCalifornia’s first fired brick home was built in 1847 by American settler Gallant Dickenson. Step into the house to learn about the many families that called this unique house home and peek into Maria “Mama” Garcia’s kitchen.State Parks

Old Whaling Station

Heritage HarborBuilt in 1847 by Scotsman David Wight, this two-story adobe house served as the headquarters for the Old Monterey Whaling Company from 1850s - 1880s. It later served as a private residence and inn until being restored by the Junior League of Monterey County.State Parks

California's First Theater

Corner of Scott and Pacific Streets (1845-47)This redwood and adobe boarding house hosted the first paid theatrical performances in California in the 1840s. Melodramas returned to the stage in 1937 with the Troupers of the Gold Coast in residence for over 60 years. Grab a seat in the recently restored theater and enjoy a short performance by the Monterey Peninsula College Theater Program. State Parks

Casa Soberanes

336 Pacific Street (1842)“The House of the Blue Gate.” Built by Rafael Estrada, an early Customs Officer, this house reflects the holiday traditions of Mexican-era Alta California. View the 19th century furnishings and local art belonging to the home’s final resident, local historian Mayo Hayes O’Donnell.State Parks

Merritt House

386 Pacific StreetOriginally built in 1830, it was purchased in 1852 by Juana Castro, the wife of Josiah Merritt and was used as their private residence. Josiah Merritt served as first county judge from 1851-1854. Today the Merritt House operates as a hotel and is preserved as a historical landmark.Merritt House Hotel

Lara-Soto Adobe

460 Pierce Street (1840s)This Mexican-era adobe was owned by John Steinbeck when he wrote The Pearl. The adobe is now part of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Enjoy stories and artifacts from Steinbeck’s life presented by the staff of the National Steinbeck Center.

Larkin House

510 Calle Principal (1835)Home of the only American Consul to Mexico, Thomas O. Larkin, the building is known as a prototype of Monterey Colonial architecture.18th and 19th century antiques and heirlooms blended with early 20th century design and fashion reflect the life of Larkin’s granddaughter, Alice Larkin Toulmin. House of the Four Winds

540 Calle Principal (1830’s)Built in the 1830's by T.O. Larkin, it has also served as a store and Monterey County’s first Hall of Records. Gabriel de la Torre Adobe

509 Hartnell StreetThis beautiful adobe is the historic location of the first Federal Courthouse in Monterey. It is now home to the non-profit Big Sur Land Trust (BSLT). Hear stories of early occupants as well as how BSLT has conserved over 40,000 acres of the lands you love throughout Monterey County.

Corner of Munras and Alvarado (1832) Home of sea captain, merchant and immigrant John Bautista Rogers Cooper and wife Encarnacion Vallejo Cooper. 530 Houston Street- Robert Louis Stevenson House (1830's) is a will call location.This adobe is where Robert Louis Stevenson stayed in 1879. It showcases a world-renown collection of author Robert Louis Stevenson’s personal belongings along with early Bohemian artwork. State Parks

582 Abrego Street (1836)Once a general store before becoming a women’s club today, the adobe home was built by Don Jose Abrego for his bride, Josefa Estrada, daughter of a prominent ranchero family. Enjoy holiday music in the main sala just as the Abrego family did.Casa Abrego Club

Pacheco Adobe (SATURDAY ONLY)

Pacheco Adobe - 602 Abrego Street (1840)A grand, two-story adobe built by Don Fernando Pacheco as a summer home for his family. Over the years it was a home, business office, and Monterey’s first hospital. Restored and owned since 1957 by the Pacheco Club.
