Marina

This is the Port of Newport RV & Marina where we drop off our boat to go crabbing. This little store by it also sales mink and permits for getting on the boat. There is also a little spot next to the store where they will clean and cook the crab for you if you want to. The people here as so helpful and friendly. It is very important to us to go out to our spots desired and set our pots. We usually let the pots sit in the ocean for about 30 minutes to an hour before we check them again. Uncle Charlie or my husband are the ones usually driving the boat. The feeling I get while on the boat is almost indescribable. I get a rush of feelings and emotions, but they are all good and mindful. I would like to point out that we have had more luck using chicken then mink for bait. The chicken draws more attention to the crab. We are very lucky to have this family boat and we are grateful for it. Whenever we come here it is usually me, my husband and my two daughters. A few of my aunts and uncles come as well as my little niece and cousins. This is the only Marina that we have used for our boat, and we appreciate the hospitality that is given to us. This beautiful Marina offers RV campground, water, bridge views, and dining. We also enjoy going on the fishing peer and enjoying the view. There are also public picnic bunkers and public restrooms which is always great. We spend a lot of time here and it is a very important spot for me and my family. It is also walking distance from a few hotels, and it's very close to some of our other favorite spots.

South beach fish market

This is the south beach fish market. They serve very delicious sea food, and they also boil your crab here for you in their giant pots. We enjoy coming here right after getting off the boat, and we get excited about the food they serve. The fish is so fresh, and savory and the food just melts in your mouth. This little spot is not fancy. If you look at it from afar you wouldn’t think anything of it but it’s one of the best. When we get off the boat, we are usually very hungry, so we end up eating something off the menu. When they are done cooking our crab, they will call us up and they put it in a big bag or a bucket. We sit on a bench, and we just start munching on it. The crab is so full of flavor and when you bite into it, its juicy, tender, and salty. We also like to tell stories about our family and past trips. Bonding over food is very important for me and my family. Every time we cook the crab, we make sure that we all gather around and talk with one another and share laughter. The south beach fish market is very well known, and it gets very busy a lot of the time, but it is worth it. As I mentioned earlier, food is very important and it is a time to gather and share stories and experiences. Food is important to my cultural life and my heritage. The south beach market also has fresh seafood inside that you can purchase and take home with you. The staff are very friendly, and the service is fast and good. I would recommend this place to any and everyone. There is something on the menu for everyone to enjoy.

Ona Beach state park

This is Ona Beach state park, it is great for picnics and gatherings. There is a lot of space for RV parking and camping. This is a fantastic spot for all day fun and beach access. The views are beautiful and, its also great for bike riding and walking your dogs. When me and my family come to this beach, we usually spend many hours there and we visit my cousin who camps out there with her family. We cook hot dogs and burgers, and we gather around the fire as it gets late. We roast marshmallows and make smores at night. We like to go down to the little beach area and let the kids play in the sand and enjoy the beach. This spot is special to me because of the meaning it has for me and my family. It is beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful to be here. When it gets late, we sometimes like to go to the store and get snacks and then bring the back to share with the family. We gather around the fire, and we begin story telling. My uncles have the best stories, and they make it fun and entertaining when they tell them. At the end of the day, we leave the beach, and we go to our hotel. Ona beach has little trails where you can take a walk and, I enjoy doing that while I’m there. Breathing in the fresh air and hearing the water relaxes me and allows me to be mindful. The sound of children’s laughter and giggles is soothing, and it makes my worries disappear. We also like to bring the crab here to cook and eat together. We like to season our crab with a lot of garlic, onion, and black pepper. We sometimes add butter to it, and it makes it even more juicy and flavorful.

Watching the Seals

This little spot is the Newport Historic Bayfront. We walk around and go to little gift shops and stores. We also watch the seals interact with each other while we stand on the pier. The kids really enjoy going to watch the seals and take pictures of them. There are so many interesting places to visit on the bayfront, one of them is Ripley’s believe it or not museum. As we walk around the bayfront we can hear the seals interact with one another and they sometimes fight with each other over their spots. They are very interesting to watch and hear, and they are used to being around people. Most people go just to see the sea lions and take pictures of them. Me and my family usually spend about 30 minutes to an hour just watching the sea lions. After that we go to the little cady store where they sale a variety of candy including saltwater taffy. The Bayfront is usually very busy with a lot of people and their dogs. The atmosphere is so positive, and everyone is so friendly. It is truly fascinating to watch as the sea lions bark and growl at each other as they try to slide up onto the doc and snuggle up with each other. I always teach my children about the importance of protecting the water because it is vital for life. We must keep these beautiful mammals well and respect all living creatures. As we work up an appetite, we find a little spot named Mo’s and we order delicious clam chowder. It is rich in flavor, and it is truly the best I’ve ever had. This Mo’s restaurant is located on the bayfront as well. Everything that you need is here on the bayfront and that is why me and my family love it and we can truly spend all day there.

Mo's restaurant

This is our favorite restaurant; it is delicious and fresh. The seafood that is served here is fresh from the ocean. We love eating here and the view is beautiful because the beach is right behind it. Me and my family like to walk around on the beach while we wait to be seated. At Mo’s restaurant there are many dishes to choose from and they are famous for their clam chowder. We always make sure that we take a big bowl to go. Mo’s is a family restaurant, and it has been around since 1946. The first time I took a taste of that yummy clam chowder I fell in love. As I have mentioned already food is very important and this is the time we gather with family. Having a beautiful view as you eat makes it even better, you can see the waves as you enjoy a meal.''Mo and her restaurants have been and continue to be written up in dozens of newspapers and magazines around the United States. In 1999 Mo’s Clam Chowder was a featured entrée at the first luncheon ever held in the Smithsonian Institute, which celebrated “Best American Regional Foods.” She was very proud of the notoriety, but most of all grateful for the restaurants’ popularity, and she gave back graciously to her community. Mo gave of herself completely, promoting “Newport the Friendliest,” with her time, energy and money. That legacy continues to this day in her granddaughter Cindy McEntee. For her “outstanding development of her business and her contributions to the community” Cindy was awarded the 2001 1st runner up, National Small Business Person of the Year from President George W. Bush. Cindy continues to run the business today along with the help of her daughter Gabrielle and son Dylan. In January of 2005 Cindy published a book, Mo’s On The Waterfront, Tradition Turned Legend to honor the life of her beloved grandmother and to celebrate the business she created over 55 years ago''.A trip to the Oregon Coast is not complete without a stop at Mo’s. We look Forward to serving you!

Beach

This is one part of the beach that we like to take the kids to run around after eating at Mo's restaurant. It gets cold but the kids still enjoy playing in the sand and building sandcastles. Family time is so important to me and my, family and that is what we get to do on this trip. The sound of the waves and the soft sand wipe my worries away. The time spent here is valuable and special. We are creating memories and we hope that our children continue this new family tradition. While on the beach, my kids and my niece have so much fun, and they don’t ever want to leave. We always look for beautiful seashells to collect and take with us for memories. I like to walk around in the sand barefoot and get my feet wet. As I mentioned before, the weather is not warm over there and we sometimes get a lot of wind and rain. The weather is unpredictable, but it is still very beautiful and relaxing. Being in touch with nature and water makes me feel connected to my ancestors and to my grandpa. When I'm at the beach with my family it's like nothing else matters. The smiles on my children’s faces is priceless and it makes me happy to see them have this much fun. We usually like to go to the beach early in the morning or mid-day, once we went at night and that was so peaceful. Going to the beach is important to me and my family because of the memories that we make while we are there. One time we were on the beach, and it started raining so hard that we ended up soaking wet without even going in the water. We ended up running to our vehicles and waiting for the rain to pass and then we continued having fun.

7

Lincoln City Outlet

On our way back home, we stop by the Lincoln City Outlet and shop. We are usually not big on shopping, and we mostly do it online, but we have made it a must to stop by the outlet and do some shopping. I like to go to the sunglass hut store and get new sunglasses and then we go to North Face and many other stores. There is a little playground in the middle of the stores, so we let the kids play there for a while until we get back to shopping. We like to get ice cream while we are there, and we talk about how much fun we have had up here and how we don't want to go back home yet. It is always sad when it's time to go but we smile when we say we will be back again soon. We also like to go to the Pendleton store and purchase a blanket or just to look around at all the beautiful things they sale. We like to walk around and visit friends who work in certain stores and say hello and see you soon.“From designer brands to Pacific Northwest adventure gear, Lincoln City Outlets has everything for your next quest on the Oregon Coast”.“With sprawling lawns and winding walkways, Lincoln City Outlets houses over 50 designer and name brand stores to peruse. From Coach, The North Face and Pendleton, to Nike, Columbia Sportswear and other unique independent stores —dive into the outlets to discover what you need for your next great adventure”.

Lil Sambos restaurant

Lil Sambos is my absolute favorite breakfast food restaurant. They make homemade jam, and it is delicious. This little restaurant is where we eat the morning that we head back home. Lil Sambos is in Lincoln City Oregon, and it has quickly become a family favorite. As we gather around the table, we talk about how much fun we have had, and we start planning our next trip to Newport Oregon. I usually order a meat lovers omelet with a homemade biscuit and jam. Eating here is always a priority before heading back home.“The food there is yummy, as is the cozy and friendly atmosphere. Anytime I've been there, it's been packed. Although it's a very family-oriented business, small, romantic tables can be found for you to cuddle up together for a tasty breakfast, lunch or dinner. Read what others are saying about Lil Sambos in Lincoln City ““Pancakes are and always will be the main focus. Corn, banana, strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, and buttermilk pancakes are old favorites. Yummy German pancakes are made with nutmeg and lemon, or with apples and cinnamon, while crepes come with apples, blueberries or strawberries, with whipped cream. Corned beef hash, Eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy are all part of their large menu. You definitely won't have a problem finding something for everyone”."The lunches and dinners are big, hearty meals as well. Breakfast has always been my meal of choice, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner time. While you wait to be seated or after your meal, you can visit the Tiger Gift Shop and find all kinds of goodies and treasures to take back home with you".
