Wellness Center - 319 Roe

The Center for Counseling and Wellness provides a wide range of services that support the holistic development of all students in body, mind and spirit. These services are free and confidential; they are available so that students can flourish academically, socially, emotionally and psychologically.Prevention, outreach, education and immediate consultation services are available to students, faculty and staff. All of these services are important in promoting emotional and psychological well-being, academic success and safety on campus.

Callahan Library

The Callahan Library, named in memory of Sister Virginia Therese Callahan, C.S.J., in recognition of her dedication and innovative contributions she made to SJC. Opened in 1989, Callahan Library was the first new building on the campus in Patchogue. Sister Virginia, a 1946 SJC graduate, served in various capacities at SJC. She was a chemistry professor, the college's first director of development, and the dean of SJC Long Island.Current holdings include books, journals, videos, DVDs, audiotapes, etc. A curriculum collection, relevant to teaching, is maintained and updated on a regular basis.Patrons have access to the Internet and numerous online academic databases. A fully automated library system, Voyager, ensures the efficient retrieval and management of all library resources.

O'Connor Hall

SJC Long Island's main building was dedicated as O'Connor Hall in 1997. It is named in honor of its fifth and longest-serving president, Sister George Aquin O'Connor, C.S.J. She sheperded the college through its transition to a coeducational institutution and during its expansion to Long Island. During her 28-year tenure, she pushed for curriculum changesthat included the additions of SJC's first graduate program, Weekend College, and what is now called the School of Professional and Graduate Studies. Sister George Aquin retired as president in 1997.

Business and Technology Center

The new Business Technology Center stands at the western border of a suburban campus on the flat land of southern Long Island. The building, an addition to the school’s main library, serves as the center of operations for the fast-growing Business and Technology Department and includes classrooms, technology laboratories, faculty offices and meeting rooms.

Danzi Athletic Center

The John A. Danzi Athletic Center opened in 1997 and has provided St. Joseph's College students, faculty, and staff with many opportunities to enjoy athletic competitions, promote personal fitness, and engage in recreational activities. Long Island businessman John A. Danzi became a SJC trustee in 1997 and a major benefactor of the college. His generosity was recognized by naming the athletic center after him in 1998. The facility contains a number of outstanding features, such as:A 25-yard heated swimming pool Strength training room Aerobics/dance room Basketball courts Volleyball courts Elevated track (1/12 mile) State-of-the-art fitness room with 18 selectorized Cybex machinesOur cardiovascular equipment includes treadmills, recumbent and upright bikes, ellipticals, rowers, and Upper Body Ergometer (UBE) machines.

The Outdoor Field Complex

The Outdoor Field Complex opened in April 2012. We are located approximately one mile east of the Long Island Campus on the Sunrise Highway South Service Road. The complex is home to the Golden Eagles men’s and women’s soccer, tennis, track and field, women’s lacrosse, softball, and baseball teams. A schedule for all SJC home athletic contests is listed at www.sjcgoldeneagles.com.This new 24.8-acre complex is a state of the art. All venues feature Musco lighting systems for night games, competitions, and events. The facility contains a number of outstanding venues that are home to several of the College's NCAA Division III teams.VENUESDanzi StadiumIncludes a 400-meter all-weather track (six-lane turns, eight-lane straights), long jump pits, high jump and pole vault areas, steeplechase course, synthetic turf field for soccer and lacrosse and a grandstand featuring bleachers for up to 1,500 people, and a press box.Gregg Alfano FieldFeatures a synthetic turf infield, clay pitcher’s mound, natural grass outfield that reaches 403 feet in center field (310 feet to right and 326 feet to left), bleachers for up to 300, a press box, and dugouts.Softball StadiumIncludes a clay infield, a natural grass outfield that reaches 210 feet to dead center and 200 feet to right and left field. There is seating for 400 spectators along with a press box and dugouts.Tennis CourtsSJC’s six new tennis courts were constructed with a DecoTurf surface, the same material the pros play on at the U.S. Open.

Clare Rose Playhouse

Tucked into the northeast corner of SJC Long Island, the playhouse is named after Patchogue businessman Clare Rose, then owner of beverage distribution company Clare Rose, Inc. Mr. Rose helped fund a project that converted what had been a vacant caretaker's cottage into an intamate New England barn-style theater. The playhouse opened in 1985.The playhouse serves as a major teaching facility for the College's theater courses and is a training ground for young actors. Year-round, the stage hosts the production of children's theatre, storytelling, theatre for the deaf, and an intimate forum for local playwrights and poets.The playhouse is the site of community theater productions of musicals, dramas, comedies, cabaret acts, musical performances, dance troupes, and comedians.
