Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center

This community gathering place celebrates who we are and how we live. The Center features films, visitor information and interpretive exhibits. The Alaska Public Lands Information Center is located here.

Ice Museum

Locally made ice sculptures, slide presentations and a nightly aurora show located in a vintage theater.

Fairbanks Community Museum

Located in the historic Empress Theater this museum showcases Alaska’s “Golden Heart City.” Exhibits on dog mushing, the Gold Rush, the ‘67 Flood, local history and memorabilia, and our list of “101 Things Fairbanksans do in Winter.”

Fairbanks Children's Museum

The Fairbanks Children’s Museum is full of interactive exhibits and creative outlets designed to bring out the spark for life-long learning and curiosity within young people and their families. Role-playing, science, art, building, sensory, and water play are all some of the experiences that children can explore.

Pioneer Air Museum

Dedicated to the preservation of aviation history, the Pioneer Air Museum houses authentic antique aircraft and memorabilia of Alaska’s aviation heritage. This blend of unusual stories focuses on the pilots and mechanics of pioneer aviation, from 1913 to present.

Tanana Valley Railroad Museum

Home of TVRR #1, the oldest operating steam locomotive in Alaska & Yukon Territory and the oldest gold rush artifact in Fairbanks. The museum features new historic displays and allows visitors to observe restoration projects. Rides pulled by TVRR steam Engine #1 available on summer holidays and special occasions.

Pioneer Museum

Featuring objects, photos, documents and books of early Fairbanks and Interior settlement as well as gold mining development. The “Big Stampede Show”, with a small admission fee, features the history of the Stampedes to the Klondike and Fairbanks areas in 1898 and 1903.

Riverboat Nenana

Dedicated as a National Historic Landmark, this steamship was built in 1933 and worked on the Yukon River for 21 years. The largest wooden vessel in existence today. During WWII this 500-ton ship transported equipment and personnel needed to construct airfields and other military installments.

Wickersham House Museum

Built in 1904 by Federal District Court Judge James Wickersham, this museum—also a National Historic Landmark—provides a look at early house construction and furnishings of the period.

Kitty Hensley House

This cabin dates to the early 1900s, and was originally located between Cowles & Kellum Streets. Furnished to reflect living in the early days in Fairbanks, it now sits in Pioneer Park's Gold Rush Town.

Harding Railroad Car

This passenger car was one of three used to carry a delegation including Warren G. Harding in 1923 to a ceremony marking completion of the railroad between Seward and Fairbanks.

UA Museum of the North

Explore Alaska Native cultures, natural wonders, and diverse wildlife while also experiencing 2,000 years of Alaska art inside this unique building.

Creamer's Migratory and Waterfowl Refuge

Operated by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game and the Friends of Creamer’s Field. Once operated as a dairy farm from Fairbanks’ earliest days until 1966, the area currently provides a safe stopover for countless numbers of migratory birds. At the Farmhouse Visitor Center learn the history of the dairy and see exhibits of local wildlife, then explore the trails and experience the real thing.
