He use to go for walks along the docks at Old Town thus the name : "Woods Rogers Walk"He successfully clamped down on the pirates, reformed the civil administration, and restored commerce.Rogers cleaned up Nassau and rebuilt the fort, using his own wealth to try to overcome the pirate problems.

JUNKANOO BEACH

The music of the Bahamas is associated primarily with [Junkanoo]; festivities take place in the early morning of 26 December and 1 January; an absorbing, colorful celebration and one of the Bahamas’ most renowned events.Or after several site seeing venues take the rest of the afternoon off and lay on the white sandy beach next to the Blue Turquoise waters. What travelers are sayingWe went to Junkanoo Beach from the cruise port and had plans to tiki bar hop along the beach but were invited to sit at the first bar we came across.Located about a 10 to 15 minuets away from downtown or the cruise ship terminal (or a 17 USD taxi ride away),You will find it a nice beach but sometimes a little crowded. Not as quiet as your own private beach experience foing farther west on Bay street.

COMPASS POINT / Villa Palmyra (Rock Pt.)

Film Location for James Bond (1965) "Thunderball".A villains den in the Bond movies is usually quite futuristic – not so “Palmyra”. The estate on the north shore of New Providence is all bricks and palms. After 50 + years it might not be in it’s best shape – but it still can be thrilling. May not be available due to ongoing renovations, gut you can still look over the gate at the shark pool.

Staurt Cove's Dive Center

Good to know. Only 5 miles futher to the West.At Stuart Cove’s you won’t be able to enter Southern Ocean Beach. However, the real thing is just 200 meters east of the diving center. There are the ruins of a former beach club, now sealed and closed and forbidden. If you dare to enter, you will pass by weather-beaten club houses and an algai overgrown pool. Then, some steps down a broken terrace, the beach – for your eyes only – awaits you.
