Disorienting & Reorienting: Recovering and Analyzing Legacies of Colonialism, Slavery, and White Supremacy at Davidson College - Part I

The original version of this tour (the “Davidson Disorientation”) was created by Tian Yi (‘18) and myself (Sarah HD Mellin) in the Spring of 2018, as a collaborative project between Davidson Teach-Ins and the College Archives and Special Collections. The physical tour was offered in April of 2018 as an alternative campus tour highlighting the history of White supremacy on campus by linking locations at the college to specific racist trends and events. This digital tour, "Disorienting & Reorienting Davidson College,” is an extended and updated version of that tour, covering a greater number of buildings over a longer period of time, and is broken into 3 sections covering three different areas of campus. It is recommended that you take the tours in order, as they occasionally reference information already covered, but they may be taken in any order.

This is PART 1 of the tour, which covers the Alvarez Student Union, Football Field, Duke, RLO, and Sparrow's Nest.

All pathways on this tour are wheelchair and mobility-aid accessible.
